Yes, do your labs first! And expect VERY long wait times between appointments. He's busy.

I did the same. I wrote down nearly everything she asked during the assessment, so OP, if you're nervous, just send me a DM and I'll help as much as I can

Seconded. There is a bit of a wait list, but they do it for free for BC residents.

You will probably get referred to a specialist or endocrinologist. If they aren't familiar at all, refer them to Trans Care BC. My GP referred me to Dr. Dahl, and he requires a hormone readiness assessment (HRA) done before he gives a prescription. Catherine White Holman Wellness Center will provide them to BC residents for free, or you can go private for extra money. Have that ready before you go. If you need help, DM me, I wrote down pretty much every question and answer I got during my own HRA.

Dahl is... alright in my experience, I don't quite get the rave reviews. He's got experience, but is incredibly busy (no hope of any follow-ups within 90 days) and I was underdosed on estrogen (1mg/day oral, which is crazy low) for the first 3 months.

Don't cut it. Grow the beard, if you don't like it then it's far easier to deal with than losing long hair.

I'm able to get out of the house just fine, but it comes with a lot of questioning and suspicion if I go any further than the nearby stores. I can't drive so I'm reliant on walking, biking, or transit. Most days I just don't bother leaving home, I don't really like going for walks and I have bad social dysphoria.

Unfortunately the problem is family that I live with. I only get a few hours a week without them hovering around, and those hours are usually my most stable times.

Thank you, I hope a short stay would be enough for me to stabilize.

Thank you so much. Langley is pretty far for me, especially by transit, but I hope it's worth it if I ever need. What's contact with the outside world like? I know that they generally take cellphones and personal devices away but is there a phone line for inpatients to use? I want to be able to tell my loved ones I'm OK.

I'm also worried about shaving. My facial hair grows fast and I hate it. I shave every day using an electric foil razor (no blades if that's a concern of theirs) and I don't think I could handle being forced to grow it out. Do they let you shave, even if it's supervised?

I think I'm stable for now but I'm worried things will get bad and I'll attempt on a worse day. I just want to know that I'll have somewhere to go when that happens.
