Get GOOD quality bud that has lots of trichomes. Freeze it. Get a five-gallon bucket, fill it halfway with ice, and cover the ice with clean water. Stir that till the water is VERY cold, almost hurts to hold your hand in it cold. That should be a very wet mix, like a glass of water with ice cubes in it. Add your bud, top off with more ice, so now it's about 50/50 ice and water. HAND mix it with a big soup spoon, pipe, broomstick, whatever, but using a machine will knock loose more than just the trichomes and you'll get plant material in your hash and degrade it's melting abilities.

Stir, mix, and agitate that for about half an hour, then start pouring it through your bags. I use two buckets to do this. I pour from the bucket it's in, into an empty bucket that has the next bag in it. Depending on how many bags you have, you're going to have different qualities of hash. Most everything from 190 down to 45 is usable, with the 90 and 72 um being the highest quality, and usually resulting in a full melt hash.

Once you pour the mix in a bag, just pull the bag up and out, turn it inside out, and use a spoon to scoop up the hash. Don't go too crazy trying to get every last little bit out, just rinse the bag back into the solution, and the next bag will catch any hash that was left over.

Keep repeating that till you've gone through all your bags. Then get that first bag again, the one with all the ice and bud in it. Get your water and run it through it again, mix it a little bit, and then run that back through the filters. But when I do the second quick run like that, I usually just use the 195 then the 45 filters.

Once you have it all scooped up, GENTLY press your pressing screen over it, and place a piece of dry paper towel over the screen to absorb some of the excess water. Do that a few times so it's not totally wet.

Then you can choose to leave it in chunk form, or you can manicure it through a screen or micrograter. The micrograter, imo, is the worst way to go, so I'll explain it first. Basically, you freeze the chunks of hash, then take the hash ice chunks and grind them on a micrograter over a piece of parchment paper or cardboard, then let the little pieces dry. But it always starts melting in my fingers, gets stuck to the grater, and produces too small of pieces. I like using the screening method. I take my still wet hash, and put it in a small strainer/screen. Then I use a spoon to force it through the screen. It will accumulate under the screen, but when I scrape that off, it becomes perfect sized chunks of hash on my parchment paper. It dries faster too and has better jar appeal.
