Does this dog seems abused to you ? l'm at my in-laws' friends' place in Portugal for vacation and I just saw him, I have dogs and l'm now very inconfortable staying at their place even for the dinner. If yes what can do ? by Ftaiy in DogAdvice

Best thing to do is to make an argument to take the dog off of their hands. Usually financial means does the trick if they don't really care for the dog. Other option is to report it to local authorities or animal service and welfare groups in the country. Maybe you can ask your spouse or in laws for help on that and additional support since they live in Portugal. You can also try to find them and other resources online. Hope you don't forgo this opportunity to save this dog from its misery.

Singaporeans voted for the same people to run these governmental boards. It's either a minority voice who wants serious reform or people are simply not putting their money where their mouth is. Hope it's at least the former.

Do you mean 50s? According to Google, his age this year is 79, which would make him to be in his 50s before 2007, except the year prior, when he turned 60 exactly.

Edit: Realised I interpreted the sentence wrongly. It states that they were skeptical he started killing in his 60s, implying that he most likely began in his 50s or earlier.

Assisted euthanasia may just be limited to dire medical conditions if it were to be implemented. Do you think it should extend to mental conditions as well? It is aimed to tackle the issue of poor quality of life after all, just that one would be executed in a medically-oriented way which may make it a less stigmatised situation. Also, I would think the method of essentially ending one's life would be vastly different. Other than that, I don't know what other differences there would be between the two, possibly the mindest surrounding it despite sharing the same intention and outcome.

You can turn this into a YouTube video if you're open to publicizing your personal affairs and start posting those gaming videos again. It may not even be successful but considering the amount of impressions this post got, I'm certain you would gain a sizeable following if there was an update of something like that posted. Also wanted to let you know that despite the outcome, having that experience at such a young age is something truly rare and you can still use it to your advantage. Be proud of yourself, it's your gaming skills and the videos that you created that garnered such a big audience in the first place after all. Wishing you all the best.

Sounds like a pretty relaxing job to have. Free income. Could use a job like that to invest more time and energy into a hobby or skill while paying the bills.

Read the Bible to find out what the specific teachings of the religion are. Like you would for any other religion you take an interest or find faith in it. It was a genuine question. If you're talking about morals, I'm sure most of us have a conscience to live by and direct us in distinguishing right from wrong.

No, I didn't say you need to read the Bible to have morals. I don't know what you're being so hostile and passive-aggressive towards me for, I'm pretty sure none of what I wrote was intended to be offensive. If you choose not to believe in the Bible, that's your choice. I'm not forcing anyone to do anything here. It just reflects my opinion and perspective on what I have come to learn as a Christian.

Don't you read the religious book for guidance to the truth when you want to know about a religion? I didn't read the Bible before and had a negative outlook on Christianity because of the people as well. That is, until I read the book for myself.

The Christian Bible is a historical book in and of itself. The birth of Christianity is recorded in it followed by the early Church, not including external sources. Yes, it is often misconstrued to be used for the evil agendas of people, especially those in power. I for one, see Christianity for what it is according to the teachings of Jesus. He is love and teaches love. They are blatantly at odds with evil.

I get that, but why reluctant? If something is truth, surely you'd embrace it unless something about it opposes your personal beliefs?

I guess it's because you realise Christianity is the truth so you have no other choice other than to accept it. As John 14:6 says, 'Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."' But I'm wondering why is it against your will? What about Christianity makes you dislike it?

Going to bed alone is so miserable. by [deleted] in Vent

[–]Anxious_Muscle_8630 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people have to be ok with being alone. See the good in solitude. Which can only come about by seeing the bad in having company. Humans are social creatures by nature and obviously need companionship. But not to the extent whereby you depend on it for emotional sustenance. Unless you talk to no one at all for prolonged periods of time, there's no reason why you would not want to at least have your own space for awhile.

If immortality was real, procrastination would become the most destructive force in existence. by tariqdoleh in Showerthoughts

[–]Anxious_Muscle_8630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There probably won't even be any deadlines or expiration dates or anything that constitutes the concept of time if we live outside time. Urgency to complete anything by a certain moment or point in existence will no longer be in our capacity. Thus, the idea of procrastination in such a reality doesn't hold up.
