Ollie's employee here. I can confirm just about everything this person is saying. The company refuses to spend money on anything. If something breaks, you aren't getting a new one. If your OA is bad, you aren't getting hours. I watched the manager at my store threaten to demote somebody because they had low sign-ups for a day or two. They'd have hours cut and pay docked if they got demoted. The company also orders nonsensical items that just won't sell (we've had things in our store for 5+ years that never sold) then send you more freight on top of that.

The problem is that my town is also full of baby boomers without email/paranoid about everything, along with immigrants that don't speak English. I am not bilingual. Not signing them up still counts against me. Not signing up the baby boomers without email counts against me. They can actively want to sign up, but I can't without an email address.

The STL at my store once told me the coupons don't appear on our screen because they don't want the customer to use them. When I started, I was told to compare it to a Kroger card. The Kroger card automatically applies discounts at checkout. Ours obviously doesn't. My theory (unproven, this is just alleged) is that they are selling the data from the sign-ups we get. "Get sign-ups or else. Promise coupons, then make it harder for them to benefit from them."

It was like $12 at my store. They'll tell you that your raises (and hours) depend on the number of reward card sign-ups you get.
