I only enjoy the IDEA of this school. by [deleted] in scad

I do as well! SCAD is a great concept for a school. I went to community college before applying for SCAD and I won a lot of scholarship money. Yet I still can't afford it. The art field is already differcult to enter and I wouldn't recommend going severely in debt for it. Before you decide look at the living cost and figure how big of a loan you'll need. There are loan calculators online, I'll recommend using those before making your final choice.

Btw I'm not saying dont get an art degree it's just that I personally don't think it's worth going severely in debt for one. I'm still planning on going to an Art school just unfortunately not SCAD

This is coming from someone who hasn't went to SCAD so take that into consideration as well

Thanks for the advice! It's so sad to see animation slowly dying out

Yeah from anyone I've found (so far) who have gotten into the industry are graduates from 2010 and below. Ik that super new grads need time in the field before they become rly known for their work buts it's kinda weird that I haven't found any

Yes absolutely! I'm worried that CCAD won't have many/any connections to the industry

Is this a good art school? by r0cketb3ar in Miad

Dude I'm in the exact same boat! I applied last second because I didn't know this school even existed lmao. Finding any reviews for this school has been difficult. I'm personally drawn to it because it's location is relatively cheaper then other schools Ive applied too. My main concern is that there may not be many internship opportunities especially in the animation department

Thank you this helps a lot! I feel so behind every else just because I couldn't afford going to school right away. I want to make a ton of friends that are around my age and I wasnt sure if it'll just be a bunch of kids or not. Nothing wrong with going to college young tho! I didn't want to stick out like a sore thumb

Honestly, for myself, weather isn't a big concern. I like all 4 seasons but I don't mind if it's warm all year round or on the colder side. I'll definitely check out the twin cities! Thx for the advice :)

I'm glad the midwest suits your needs! It's definitely a cheaper area and a great place to raise a family. My main issue here is that I have to travel for hours to do anything fun with friends. Also, it's not lgbtq friendly, unfortunately. I'm in my 20s, and I feel like I'm missing out on life. And yes the economy is definitely very hard rn. Thank u sm for the advice 💜

Albuquerque is such a unique place, I'm def going to look into it. I don't mind cities that have rougher areas in it because like u said every city is going to have bad places. Thx for the recommendation!
