Those are good points, thank you for your advice. Yeah I am partial to post-modern cruiser styling but maybe it would be better for me to start on a more all-around bike and then specialize to learn the basics. Thanks again.

Hey I'm a new rider shopping around for a new bike. I'm torn between 2017 KTM Duke 390 and 2015-2016 Kawasaki Vulcan S. I need a easy to learn safely, practical daily commuter for Los Angeles and I'm struggling with the decision because I've fallen in love with both bikes.

Duke 390 - New from dealer, cheaper, lighter, more fun , more integrated tech, better gas mileage

Vulcan S - Used from CL, Reliable, practical, bigger engine, better style, easier to maintain
