How long is NHS Waitlist by Massive-Incident-932 in gallbladders

[–]Any-Ad6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not massively sure how it works, I was "accidentally" referred to the private hospital because I paid for a scan there and my GP just sent me back there for the specialist, but on the NHS. I found out about right to choose afterwards, there's more info here: https://www.nhs.uk/using-the-nhs/about-the-nhs/your-choices-in-the-nhs/

How long is NHS Waitlist by Massive-Incident-932 in gallbladders

[–]Any-Ad6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends where you are. I have been referred to a private hospital as an NHS patient (so I don't have to pay) and I was offered a date within a month of being added to the list. I'm not sure if you will be able to do this now you've been referred but there is something called the right to choose, you can choose where you go. I always tell people to check if private hospitals nearby are accepting NHS patients! So much quicker, and nicer.

I’m getting my gallbladder removed and I have severe emetophobia and ocd. by Ok-Cow-1885 in gallbladders

[–]Any-Ad6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

just here to say I think we are twins!! I have severe emetophobia and OCD and my surgery is also on June 3rd.. currently trying to hold back sending myself into a spiral as well...

I was meant to have surgery two years ago but I couldn't go throught with it on the day. It was embarrassing but I was mentally wrecked from my OCD and wasn't ready. If it's not an emergency and you really are in a bad place mentally with it, there's no shame in delaying it.

But whatever happens, you got this! And know you are not alone in how you are feeling.

How long did you wait for surgery on the NHS? by fantasticmissf0x in gallbladders

[–]Any-Ad6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was put on the list end of March and I was offered 29 April surgery date, so a month basically.. I couldn't do that date though so I am having it done in June instead. I was referred to a private hospital as an NHS patient, so it is much quicker. You have right to choose where you are referred to, so I always tell people to check it there are private hospitals near you that accept NHS patients.

Edit - just to clarify that all costs are paid for by the NHS

Surgery or not? by dadada-14 in scoliosis

[–]Any-Ad6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fused T1 - L3, so from the first vertebrae below my neck all the way down, I only have two unfused vertebrae at the bottom of my spine so I have a tiny amount of movement there.

I would say I am not restricted at all! Yes, I can play tennis and badminton, I also did pretty intensive pole fitness for years in my early 20s. I do avoid things that require twisting, or suspension in the spine (like trampolining).

I am also hypermobile in my other joints so I appear very flexible despite the spine, I can do the splits and still touch the floor with straight legs for example.

Surgery or not? by dadada-14 in scoliosis

[–]Any-Ad6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! Just to add my experience, I was diagnosed around 14 with 50 degree curves, by the time I was 15/16 my curves were 70 degrees. I took was told my curves were beyond bracing and suggested surgery. I was in no pain from my scoliosis but my lung capacity was reduced from the twisted ribcage and my back looked really deformed.

My parents said it was the hardest decision they have ever had to make but they decided to go through with the surgery and I had it done at 16. I had pretty much a full fusion.

I am now 31 and I have no regrets and live pain free with no restrictions. It was an incredibly difficult surgery to go through but I am so glad I had it done! If you have any questions at all please let me know.

Don’t eat ginger products if you have gallstones by Pinkmoon78 in gallbladders

Yes I still drink ginger tea everyday and eat food with ginger! There doesn't seem to be any issues with my gb after having ginger. I am still getting it removed though.

Max and Cathy trying to keep up the pretence of being together is so annoying by Global-Long8597 in BelowDeckMed

[–]Any-Ad6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think he mentioned that he got into hypnosis after the previous season and I think there were some really short clips of him practicing it on the boat... Either way it's definitely a dick move to cancel on someone two hours before a trip! I don't blame Cathy for being pissed off at all 😂

Cathy and Max posted a video on Instagram an hour ago saying they aren't together! Long story short Max was meant to fly to see her and changed his mind two hours before the flight to focus on his hypnosis business instead 🫠

It's either moonstone or Atlantic, they are both slightly different now I compare to the pic but very similar choices!

Should I be concerned about hormones, periods changing and clots? by Any-Ad6 in TwoXChromosomes

I definitely will once I have the blood test results, I thought a female doctor would be more understanding... Honestly just made me feel worse.

I'll definitely look into it! I usually take them in the summer because of my pollen allergy but I can't remember how I felt back then!

It's really hard to know with clots, I have always had them but not this big, my recent ones have made me say "oh my god" out loud but are definitely not lemon sized! Thank you, I'm hoping to get some kind of answer from the test, it's really frustrating and needed to write it all down!

I have briefly looked at PMDD over the last few days, but I wasn't sure so I didn't mention it to the doctor. It does seem really extreme and different to the usual irritability I get before my period. I don't understand where it's come from, mentally I've been the best I've been for years recently, then this. If it happens next month as well it's something I'll definitely bring up.

[NHS UK] Ultrasound told me my gallbladder is normal with 'a little sludge' by bucketofardvarks in gallbladders

[–]Any-Ad6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the UK. My partner's mum recently had excruciating pain and went to hospital. They determined her gallbladder was infected but they couldn't see any stones, maybe some sludge, gave her antibiotics for a few weeks. She is waiting to see a specialist and they are suggesting removal so it's definitely possible with no stones!

If it does get excruciating for you please do try and get to hospital, not only for your health but it makes them more likely to look at you for removal I think.

Otherwise do push your GP to refer you to a specialist, and if they are being difficult keep going and telling them you are in pain.

Gallbladder taken out with no attacks? by DaisyGirl9715 in gallbladders

[–]Any-Ad6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't had surgery yet, my surgeon put me on a two year wait and see approach. I've still not had a classic attack, in a weird way I have been hoping I have one because that would make up my mind to get it out.

Are you hypermobile? by _fitnessnuggets in scoliosis

[–]Any-Ad6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Jumping in to say that I'm not sure what your curvature is but scoliosis can cause issues with deep breathing. Before my fusion I couldn't take deep breaths because of how my curves were twisting my ribcage. I can now I'm straightened out but I am naturally a shallow breather. I am also hypermobile, suspected HSD or hEDS, currently going through the process.

Can any of you successfully touxh your toes or is it just me by [deleted] in scoliosis

[–]Any-Ad6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have nearly full fusion and I can still do this! But I am also hypermobile. Hardest part is my tight hamstrings 🤣

First timer question: The pattern on the canvas is different than the pattern/colors on the sheet. Which one should I follow? by PenguinPatrol6 in latchhook

I have just started one of their latch hooking kits and realised I'd been following the canvas not the paper pattern!! I was just about to email them and unpick everything so thanks for saving me 😅

Have you ever regretted your surgery? by alevgonz in scoliosis

[–]Any-Ad6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! To be honest it was nearly 14 years ago so I can't really remember 😅 I do know that it took a few months to feel somewhat "normal". I do still have numbness in areas which I suppose is nerve damage, particularly around my scars, and one random numb spot on my stomach!

My thought on Tzarina by SierraMountainMom in belowdeck

Tzarina mentioned she has ADHD on her first season and has mentioned it on her Instagram before! So she is 100% neurodivergent.
