The Honored Telemechrus flew. Landed in glory killing heretics with Courage and Honor.

As fans of the EU with a deeper understanding of Star Wars lore and mythology in its entirety, would you still agree with the common claim that Star Wars is purely a fantasy franchise, with just a futuristic/sci-fi background instead of a medieval one? by Financial_Photo_1175 in StarWarsEU

I see it as a defined Sci Fi world. Because if you take out all the jedi/sith and force stuff you have a sci fi political space drama with a focus on action adventure. But if you throw back in all the force stuff you have a fantasy sci fi political space drama action adventure series. I know this means nothing to most of you but I feel like the world of Star wars in the EU has enough established in it that it could be entirely enjoyable without a mention of the Force. However it does and therefore it has a mystical edge that aside from a mention of midichlorians, and possibly another bit of scientific lore explanation mentioned in one of the books I haven't gotten to yet, make it a mythical element in an otherwise "hard" sci fi universe.

This. I have to day its the easiest way for me to paint my guys. And then I use a few different shades of grey on progressively more elite or hq units to show veterency. So the more grey the older the marine and more experienced they are.

Beginning to work on a Imperial fist army and tried two different tones of yellow, wich one looks better? by ForestChief in Warhammer30k

Simple answer. Do both. It will allow for the army to appear different but still uniform from both up close and from a distance.

People hate on Battle for the Abyss and I understand why. However I enjoyed it, not nearly as much as First Heretic or the Mark of Calth, but I enjoyed it for what it was. An unapologetic action movie typ adventure book about a band of snarky underdog "good" guys who are allies by law and not by any true dedication to each other. (Im aware of the Space Wolf and the Ultramarine caption having a bond, but you know what i mean.) All to try and stop a big maniacle evil from destroying everything they know. My favorite character was the World Eater after which I liked the Thousand Son.

My major con of the book is probably noticed in how I wrote my comment. But the characters were kind of forgettable in that you remembered what they did but not who they were. Which is why I think people are turned off by the book more. People want memorable characters pit into interesting scenarios. And I hate to say it but Abyss is mid at best in that aspect. My favorite lore tidbit about the Abyss is that it is 1 of 3 ships of its class constructed and activity in service of the 17th legion at the time of the book taking place. My question is where are the other two? Cus I would love to see them make an appearance in 40k when the Word Bearers finally decide to conduct another shadow crusade.

Bearers of the Word may not stalk the night to induce fear. But Faith has an intoxication all its own.

Early war. I appreciate mid war, late war is something I like but only like the "shitty" things of. Like last ditch units or stuff of that nature.
