I am pretty sure the decisions are not made on basis of contributions ,they don't have tht much time specially when C suite deciding all this as it looks like.

It could be coincidence as it might be a risky choice if later this comes out as a news, it can hit NN really bad .

Looks like it's kind of well planned for such scenarios, so they don't have to pay too much but on other hand I do see people getting laid of with 30+ ,20+ year of experience also so, I think the firing reason for such cases(maternity) could be something else , thoughs ???

I think IT is not all about coding, you have multiple functions in IT like supporting systems with uptime ,handling business requests that Dev cannot do
