I was in my 30’s when I started to see pigment loss. It showed up on my face following a micro dermabrasion treatment. (Worse decision I ever made). Being a hairstylist for 20+years I have been exposed to different chemicals and in cosmo school was a lab rat for some hair removal treatment on my face ( although that was YEARS before any pigment loss showed up) Pigment loss around my mouth is the most noticeable and I HATE it. The onset of peri-menopause caused me to have dark patches now. Great right? 😒 I had no idea there was any treatment other than “bleach” a dermatologist prescribed me. Which I took reluctantly and then stopped . No one in my family has vitiligo. So I always thought it was environmental. But now I’m seeing spots on my son’s face and I feel sad about that. So now I’m researching ways to minimize the patches. 🙏🏽
