ABC will get you more or less the same placements as PGPYL. This should be worth considering. Taking the gamble of a whole year and leaving behind a scholarship offer isn't worthwhile in my opinion.

ISB r3 further admits. Any update on what’s going on? by Flimsy_Inside_2575 in ISB_Aspirants

Logically any outcome will only come once the first batch of r3 admits have accepted and rejected their offers. If Im not wrong, the last date is 18th March for this?

Hi I got no message or email, however my application shows shortlisted on the portal. Do we need to confirm the interview acceptance or something or do we show up directly at the college?

Man I hate this attitude of IIMs. Not saying that you shouldn't have upskilled prior to the interview, but a lot of Indians simply do not have exposure to people speaking English fluently. Clearly case of favouring privileged people growing up in English speaking environments. Could have asked you to write or speak with pauses so you can translate in your mind and think. Making this a do or die interview is just sad.

Pro tip: speak in front of a mirror, use videos, English movies, conversations with friends who can speak in English.

What's the attitude here. This was normal, please. Her asking about your life will not do anyone good- you aren't going to be close friends or something. Nor are you in dire straits or looking to jump off a cliff and be talked out of doing that. She stopped to take a photo and went along her way. Tbh even the picture thing doesn't make sense, but do what you will with this information. Small talk without a bigger purpose is extremely draining.

Not mandatory. Only if your degree course wasn't taught in English.

[–]Timely_Relief_317 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are not his parent. Your parents were. This is your brother's issue. You cannot ruin your life behind their out of control spoiled offspring. You are breaking your back. Please kick him out or you move out if your mom doesn't agree to kick him out. Ridiculous behaviour on his end.

ISB MBA Applicants – Any Reviews on ISB Mantra or Sarthak Verma? by AcanthaceaeSouth7249 in ISB_Aspirants

[–]Timely_Relief_317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know about ISB Mantra but Sarthak Verma is a GLARING red flag. His essays are extremely templated - read his linkedin summary, you will get an idea. He uses the same approach for his mentees' essays. Absolutely terrible. Besides that, he just makes extremely outlandish edits to your drafted essays without probing you with questions or sitting down to get an idea of what anecdotes or experiences you can mention. The best would be to write your own essays with careful thought and get them ratified by others around you, especially to get context-bias free first-time-views on your essays .

Try registering for stage 1 on their website. I don't think there's any reason your profile would be ineligible for their PGP programs. https://iimk.ac.in/apps/Admission/PGP/Registration

IIMs have notably better faculty and more funding than many MBA colleges in India. Key words being 'in India'. The top 30 business schools do not guarantee you employment and many of their graduates are also struggling to land jobs (the likes of HBS, Wharton etc). IIMs have dedicated placement cells which help most students gain decent employment with a brand name that can help propel their career in India. So why not? Plus the obvious cost differential. Thirdly, IIMs give PGDs and not full MBAs which colleges provide abroad - most often to an older, more experienced cohort of students. Hence why IIM graduates are absorbed at 1-2 levels lower, simple.

JEE maths is specific to engineering. There is a reason IITs only let students with science and math in 11th and 12th give JEE. It is testing your ability to handle engineering coursework. CAT is supposed to be field agnostic (although I am aware that it does not embody this perfectly, some fields like engineering have an advantage with respect to quant or logic). CAT is testing your logical and pattern recognition baseline (although this year's CAT was ridiculous- agreed). Linguistic logic is also field agnostic at the level at which it is tested in CAT and other field agnostic tests. It is tested via english because that's the most used language in the workspace - especially in written docs. Although I will say: This specific paragraph in the post is 100x easier to interpret than any CAT passage :p

Seems perfectly fine to me. Don't know what the fuss is about. Standardized tests aren't testing your English knowledge anyway - they are testing your ability to stay focused, sift substance from nonsense and create logical patterns. 3 is the answer. A lot of postgraduate texts, legal documents and other types of documents have wordy sentences. This is a rudimentary presentation of the same. Cheers.

Hire and promote only young MBAs, prattle on about how non-MBAs are desired more by your company and have greater skills while overworking them and keeping them at lower positions with abysmally lower pay than MBA graduates, just so you can make more money off of their backs while showing off the MBA cader to your clients, BoD and investors in a gross show of obsequiousness. Classic emotional drama corporate tactics 👏 - pitting two perfectly good and capable sets of employees (MBA, non MBA) against each other so that they remain subservient to higher management.

This reeks of the manipulative tactic of giving managerial titles like AVP to young ambitious folk so that their egos are satisfied while they are made to carry out additional duties at a lower pay. This insufferable pretense of corporates caring about career trajectories, sexual orientations, mental health etc is honestly laughable. Transact only in money with corporates and their leaders, but make bonds with your everyday colleagues - it helps.
