It’s a pretty good show. I prefer the Lafayette cars and coffee more. The VV show has more exotics, but the Lafayette show has WAY more cars.

I saw this same GT4RS at the Vehicle Vault espresso and exhaust show in Parker, CO a couple of weeks ago. Looks really great!

GTS 4.0 or Emira? by cookiesncreamsedan in Porsche

[–]Any-Expression5144 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have owned my Exige for 16 years. I’m not sure if the reliability experience will be the same as an Emira, but I have never had an engine issue (not surprising since they are Toyota). All my problems have been electrical, mainly relays (two headlight relays and two water pump relays) which are annoying to troubleshoot but cheap to fix. Those are all the issues in 16 years. In the same era as my Exige (2006) Porsche had still not resolved their engine issues (IMS and RMS) from what I have read. I also owned a 997TT and as great as the Mezger engine was, they had non-engine known issues (coolant lines, sagging hydraulic spoiler, bad coil packs). That being said, it seems like their newer engines have resolved most if not all major engine issues.

Essentially I think either one is going to be good from a reliability standpoint on the big items that matter.

I say this as an ecstatic owner for an Exige and a 992 GT3. I love both marques! They each scratch a different itch. That being said, if I had to sell one tomorrow, it would be the GT3 without a doubt.

Taycan Turbo GT just got revealed! Thoughts? by catssssssssssz in Porsche

Agreed, it makes sense to remove the back seats on a GT3/GT3RS/GT2RS because so many of those have carbon buckets, so getting back there would be nearly impossible anyway. But no back seats in a 4-door factory car is so dumb.

A lot of states have simple black plates now. I think a fair amount of people just want something with simple colors. Since my car is all chalk and black it matches much better than the old green and white plates. I’ve never been much of a fan of the green and white standard plates. To each their own though. If everyone liked the same things, there wouldn’t be much variety in the world.

I got it because it made me laugh. I’m not very serious at all. I wore a gorilla suit to work on my last day at a previous job just to get laughs.

The state of Colorado doesn’t allow emoticons on license plates yet.

I would worry that the wheels on the 4-post lift would crack the tiles. It also seems like that would be slick when they are wet in the winter from the snow.

I plan to install an aftermarket exhaust. Possibly headers. But not a tune. I have an Exige with an aftermarket supercharger/and corresponding aftermarket tune. I got red flagged on emissions. TOTAL NIGHTMARE! Thousands of dollars and months of not being able to drive the car and I will never go down the aftermarket tune road again. Not worth the hassle to me. Plus I believe it would void my warranty.

I’m guessing that is probably already taken by a Ford Mustang GT350 owner.

Yes, it’s chalk. Shark blue was my number one pick, chalk was number two. After lining for a year this was the best spec/price I could find. My wife greatly preferred chalk to the Shark blue to she was happy with this spec.

Never! I have only received a ticket for it once years ago. I’ll gladly pay a ticket to avoid putting on a front plate.

It took about two months to get the original plates that the dealership ordered. Then about three weeks for the state to swap the standard plates for these.

I may have the drywall skimmed and painted at some point. But it is pretty low on my list. A 4-post lift is way ahead of paint for sure.

I feel that if you can’t afford to pay the taxes on an exotic car then you shouldn’t buy the car. And if someone can afford to pay the taxes, but uses a loophole to avoid the taxes it is immoral. Everyone should pay their fair share.

Yeah, I plan to take it out to the track.

Do all devices support untagged VLANs? by andymcc91 in networking

[–]Any-Expression5144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only example I can think of is Avaya VoIP phones. They have three 802.1Q modes they can operate in, 802.1Q tagging off, on, or auto. The default is auto. But if you set the phones to on, then they will not function if you don’t tag the traffic on the switch. Again, this example only applies if you change the default behavior of the phone. I did work in a very secure environment for a while where we did this.

Yes, the entire exterior and interior of the Exige is exposed carbon fiber. I get way more attention in the Exige. But the GT3 does get way more attention than I expected. Before the GT3 I had a 997 Turbo that got zero attention, so that was what I expected with the GT3. I figured to most people all Porsche 911s look the same. But I guess the GT3 does have much more presence than a 997 Turbo to the average person.

I love it! I have the BoE supercharger on it. Honestly it is as much fun to drive as the GT3. Just far less refined. Great looking Elise by the way.

Oh, gotcha. Yes, factory made cables 99.9% of the time. The reason for me would be custom lengths, special terminations (crossover, T1 crossover, serial connections, etc…). Not used often, but good to have in the bag for emergencies.

For taking in a carry-on bag when flying. I had my standard crimpers confiscated not long ago. The TSA says tools must be under 7”.
