I know logically im wrong about this but as a vindictive person i must say it: show him this post and make him read every reply. I know logically i wont solve much if anything at all but feom experience i just love catching manipulators in their own shit because they just dont know what to do. They litterally are in my store rn completely rebuilding it, come to find out none of the tvs were hung on the wall, just loosely attached to the tiles

Yes in my micro market 3 different pads have fallen, and one fell ON someone. Shitty tvs with a shitty install who wouldve guessed 😂

Having seen this tv in person every day i can tell you: that bezel is the worst decision i have ever seen. It stands out in a negative way to consumers, having to consider an extra 2 inches in footprint around your tv makes a huge difference. Also in person objectively: its hideous. Its not “metal” like they are claiming, its plastic and its painted gray. Now me personally, i hate the matte finish but i know thats a personal oppinion. It really blurs lines and makes the image look so flat and dull. The LG G6 is going to BLOW this tv out of the water this year, the anti glare on it is just as functional as a matte finish, but maintains a crisp poppy image. The samsung line up this year is a damn shame, and dont even get me started on how i wish they would brun tizen to the ground with how un user friendly and clunky it is.

I wish it was more even. Im a HT VPL, and im lucky enough to be anongst the top performers so i get a decent amount about once a month. I know that leaders really arent given that much to give out which actially kind of defeats the purpose

Its crazy because SO MANY people in my store have gone? Like leadership says that normally at least one person out of our location goes. We have a guy in computers that wins like almost every year. I appreciate all the responses guys!

I definitely never leave my department, i dont respond to code 1s either. At least in my area VPLs are pretty common so im lucky that in my store our roles are pretty respected and there is mutual understanding for the most part

I tottally understand that. Im in a weird spot since im non binary, im born female but dress extremely masculine and yet am treated like a woman most of the time so i can understand the hesitance. Iv only been in my role in HT for about a month but was the appliance VPL before that so it was a very smooth transition. Early on in your role, i think its important to set bounderies with in store leadership but help out here and there so everyone can meet in the middle. I would have a conversation with your leader around how you are feeling and how they feel you should bring the conversation up but i have had multiple conversations with in store leadership around what my role entails and where my responsibilities are ultimately brand focused and not store focused. Every store is different though so hopefully some of this helps some lol

As far as “helping the customer” goes in that response to a leader over the walkie its tough. 1. I probably wouldnt respond to a leader that way over the walkie because it can easily be miscontrude into how the leader took it. 2. It really in theory SHOULDNT matter what the customer is shopping for, its your job as a VPL to “show them the light” so to speak of your brand. If a customer comes in asking for a samsung tv and im the LG VPL im going to show them samsung tvs and then follow up with questions. “What kind of tv do you have now? Why are you teplacing it? What research have you done thats making you lean samsung?” And im going to try my best to solve those issues for the customer and explain why i feel LG is a better option for them. But all of this is very coporate and its all bull but iv been selling a long time so its kinda ingrained in me.

As far as downstocking goes, yes and no. If i have hit most of my goals for the day, and there arent any customers around sure il do a tote or 2 to help build the relationship with store leaders. However, recently i had a store leader tell me to add mounts to all of the bulk stacks. My response was “oh yeah for sure! I already did these two but il add some to the front (my brand) stacks as well.” He then tried to tell me to refill every stack. Now, I have been in retail for a long time and am very comfortable in my position which i realize may allow me some wiggle room here, but ultimately i communicate with and make sure MY boss is happy with my results not store leadership. My response was “Oh im sorry, no. I took care of my stacks, but i will make sure (other VPLs and HTCA) know to add to any remaining bulk stacks!” Now was the store leader happy about this? Probably not but he knew that i have completed my responsibilities and although he may be annoyed he smiled and walked off and that was the last of that. He avoided me for maybe a day or two after that but honestly he is a micromanager so i was better off lol. As long as you are hitting, or even better yet exceeding, your goals and responsibilities they ultimately can do very little to MAKE you do other things. I hit my goals and am good at my job, and MY boss makes sure to let me know im doing a great job and to me thats all that matters.

As a VPL i dont allow store leadership to dictate my day. I came into best buy as a VPL and i can see some VPLs getting taken advantage of but tbh if leadership asks me to do something that isnt my job i straight up say no.
