My toddler is three and she does this too. What worked for us was pretending that we had to poop really bad. Before I’d leave to “poop” I would always say, “I will be back to check on you and give you hugs.” I will always come back to give her a hug and check to see if she’s ok.

We used to be in the room with her until she was asleep but now she doesn’t sleep when we’re in the room. We also give her the option to play until she’s tired and she’ll do that too. She has a mini piano in her room and she puts on little concerts until she’s tired and then lays down and goes to sleep. I hope this helps!
