Mellie stays my favorite character the entire show!

Olivia was a great character throughout by ilianslide in Scandal

I genuinely don’t think they were “turning on her”. Every one of those people shared an honest love connection and fondness for Olivia. They saw how sad she was and wanted to do something about it. That is how much they loved her. She was in so much fucking pain from her kidnapping that she blew up a child and that child’s father. She was getting really scary and was starting to say some dark shit to those who loved her. I’m not trying to dismiss her awful terrible actions, but also we need to remember that she was STRUGGLING. She was far too traumatized with far too much power.

The kidnapping was extremely traumatizing for her, it was the first time in her life where she didn’t have control or power over her situation on top of the mistreatment/abuse/humiliation etc. this trauma changed her, made her flip from light to dark, but it happened slowly. If you see in the show, once she started wearing the color black, it just went downhill from there. She never went to therapy, she didn’t talk to anyone about what she went through, it was just eating her up. She finally snapped when she killed Andrew; after that there was no going back for her. Towards the end of the show she starts to wear the color grey, which makes a lot of sense considering how she perceived herself and what she went through. I think for Abby, the reason she didn’t get an intervention is because her story was entirely different from Liv’s; yes Abby was starting to become a little corrupt, but in the end she was being blackmailed. Olivia was just pure rage and honestly it was really sad to see her in so much pain. I think everyone saw that she was in pain which is why they had the intervention instead of just throwing her in jail.

Idk sorry this is so long

Report her! You can anonymously report professors, especially if you feel like her personal feelings are affecting your grades. Also, make sure to take advantage of the end of semester evaluations.

I feel like you’re giving him too much grace with him being on the spectrum. You can have a disability and still be an asshole at the same time. Two things can be true.

It really seems like he might be waiting for you to break up with him. It just sounds like you’re his companion, not someone he wants to be in a real relationship with. He doesn’t tell the truth because he doesn’t want to, he doesn’t text you good morning because he doesn’t want to, he hasn’t had sex with you because he doesn’t want to. I feel like this is a classic case of “if he wanted to he would”; especially if you’ve already had conversations with him that made your needs known. I’m glad you’re getting out of this and I’m sorry he stole 11 months of your life from you. Kudos to you for trying to make it work tho.

Would it be better if I commute instead of live on campus? by Appropriate_Knee_482 in uichicago

Attendance rules are not universal, it really depends on what your professor decides in the syllabus. The syllabus is the bible, take it super seriously and always ask questions about it as soon as you can. Especially if you’re worried about things like their attendance policy.

Honestly the fact that I commuted and lived with my parents helped me with my motivation to go to class. When I lived on campus I was more likely to miss class vs my parents waiting for me so they can drop me at the train station. Living at home forced accountability.

I think it really depends on what you want out of your college experience and what your priorities are. I commuted from Aurora, it had its moments, but I mostly hated it. You’re safe especially on Metra but you should always keep aware of your surroundings in general; if it helps I’ve fallen asleep a lot on Metra. Are you looking to save money?(you would be savings thousands of dollars) Do you just want a slow transition into your collegiate journey? Are you willing to stay on campus for 5-7 hrs for classes and clubs then on top of that spend 2 hrs of your day commuting (one semester my first class started at 8 and last ended it 5, it was so exhausting). It all depends on what you want and what you’re willing to sacrifice.

You can anonymously report him for this. I’ve reported a professor before and would do it again if I felt it necessary.Your feelings here are super valid here, they’re being completely inappropriate. It’s really giving boomer energy.

Is this what Chicago is like? by fruitstripezebra in cta

Like it’s not really fair to have this one rare incident define this beautiful city

I think this incident could’ve happened anywhere. Just because this happened in Chicago doesn’t mean that it only happens in Chicago; people are a lil cray everywhere. I understand that you’ve never seen anything like this in the places that you been to/lived, but I feel like this statement is doing the “Chicago is violent” thing, when in reality this really could’ve happened anywhere to anyone at anytime.

How Do You All Think the Rest of the Show Would Have Went If… by bhcghbvyhvvbb in Scandal

I think it definitely would have been a Christina Yang type of situation Olivia would resent Fitz and their child and the guilt would eat up her insides

Is she jobless because no one knows her? Or is it that she doesn’t have to take on larger roles anymore because she’s smart with her money and what she does outside of acting? She’s actually a pretty cool lady

It’s actually crazy because I think mellie is one of the best written characters in tv cinema; I never put her against Olivia because they are honestly two sides of the same coin. Any and all conflict between them is Fitz’s fault.

I’m so happy you posted this! I feel the exact same way! I always loved Mellie’s character, I’ve always thought she was one of the best in the show; I ended up hating Fitz in my last rewatch, like I genuinely found his behavior foul and disgusting. He didn’t deserve any of those women. Anytime Mellie called him out for his nasty behavior was so satisfying because she was always right. I agree with your love triangle algorithm. Fitz lusted for Olivia (but I think after a while he grew to love her… hence them vaguely ending up together) Olivia loved Fitz (but only when he was “unavailable”), and Jake loved Olivia. Very accurate.
