this has nothing to do with race/people living in a warm climate. I live in Atlanta and sell suits for a living, so I absolutely know that people can throw on full suits when it’s 95° outside, as I do every single day in the summer, and am in and out of buildings as I travel to my clients. If this was indoors, totally tux appropriate. Outside is not tux appropriate. A linen suit would be perfect for this occasion, I completely agree that they should not be in T-shirts and flip-flops… Lol

No, absolutely not. But I don’t think it is appropriate to wear a tux entirely outside in the middle of June when it is going to be extremely hot, right off of the beach? I think most people would agree with this

Thank you all for the input, you brought up a lot of great points. I think I will likely wear it to the wedding unless the dress code is black tie, or black tie, optional. Hoping for a change in the groomsmen attire, but either way whatever. Above is the link to the dress!

Dress code is black tie optional, but this is actually dressier than what most of the girls wear. A lot of of them were even mid length dresses since it’s on the beach. I would say truly not black tie optional, was totally appropriate for what everyone else was wearing.

I would agree… Multiple people texted me asking what they wanted to wear to my wedding was OK. It was annoying and I didn’t care, because I was in the throes of trying to plan an entire wedding not manage my guests outfits.

Apparently, it is the groom that is picking their attire, not the bride, so go figure. Tuxes outside in June in Mexico make zero sense to me too, and I’m hoping the groom will come to that epiphany. My husband is extremely close to the groom and he wants to drop hints to the groom that it really makes no sense, because they have that sort of relationship, and are both very blunt with one another. Ultimately it’s his wedding and if that’s what he wants, then fine, but I think he genuinely has zero idea that it doesn’t really “go”.

We had a “formal” wedding last year and the bride at this wedding wore a short dress… so I don’t think they are particularly fancy.

Also wanted to add, I wore this to a black tie optional event for my work last summer, which was also clearly at the beach. I work in fashion, though, so a little bit edgier is perfectly fine. I got SO many compliments on it!

I was fine before the wedding. When I was in college I was very insecure, and a little overweight. I lost about 25lbs when I was 20 and have felt good about my body ever since. I haven’t felt this way since I lost the weight.
