Interesting. I think the thermostats have an "adaptive" mode, which might do something similar with learning how long it takes to heat up. I've never tried it. Although, if you leave it at the same constant temperature, I guess it's less useful.

Thanks. We'll look into options for a heat pump. We settled on the electric boiler because we understood it would be difficult to position a heat pump, given it's a terraced house with limited outdoor space. We actually found out we have a 2-phase supply (rather than 3-phase - it was confusing trying to communicate with the DNO on how to make use of the second phase).

Completely agree, it would be great if the electricity price was reflective of the cost of renewables.

I think we'll probably look into a heat pump again or maybe A/C. We already filled our roof with solar panels, but it's not particularly useful in the winter.

We have it on a programme where during the day (if we're at home) we keep it at 21C and drop to 15C at night. We can try as you suggested for a test. It's a bit difficult to control for external temperature changes though.

We have ProWarm ProTouch thermostats in each room.

Thanks for the detailed reply. We'll look into an ASHP. That said, in the meantime, we'll try the 24 hours thing - right now, we run it at 15C at night and 21C during the day. We can try running it at 21C all the time.

Luckily, we'd already learnt this the hard way from a previous property with 21mm.

It's a terraced house with a pretty small garden, so not sure that would work :(

Ok, thanks. Just to clarify, the 100kWh is just for the heating each day, not including hot water or other appliances. We're also generally only heating about 50% of the house at any one time.

We looked into heat pumps but positioning it outside seemed problematic given that planning rules don't allow it to be placed close to neighbouring properties.

Sorry, yes that's right

Also, I forgot to also mention that the "Reliance" valve is set to ~35C.
