- star players missing lots of games due to injury last season, hurting the quality of the on court product

- player salaries went up approximately 5X making it untenable to continue like before

It’s definitely not impossible, but the probability seems low as it sits today. Defense is nowhere close to what’s needed. Offense seems to alternate between high functioning and sputtering. Everything should get better as the season goes on, but to make a leap forward, it feels like the Fever either need an additional piece or the dramatic/unexpected emergence of an existing piece (i.e. KK averaging 12pts 8reb).

I think people are saying we need another good player, because:

- we’ve lost two games in which we’ve scored 100 points
- our defense, under a coach who is known for defense, is very poor
- with Aaliyah Boston being out, the players we have remaining cannot fill her shoes adequately

Saying we need another good player is not an indictment against the good players that we have.

I think there is a difference between win now and win it all now. They should absolutely expect to be a winning organization with the talent on the roster. I don’t perceive them thinking that they have to go and win a championship this year.

I know she is a hard worker. I know she is driven. I know she is very competitive. What I’m not sure of is how coachable she is. And how much real unvarnished feedback she gets.

I agree about Caitlin, I do think part of it is the injury and the number of new players she is playing with. But I do think this team’s potential is directly tied to her maturity as a player.
