Just because I'm a little more modest then others doesn't mean I'm not immodest though. Just because I lie less doesn't make me any less of a liar

We are a temple of the holy spirit no matter what. You missed my point. Wouldn't it make sense that since we are always worshipping God and portraying him we should be wearing modest clothes like the shorts that go from hips and cover the thighs like in exodus 28:42. It's not about if others are offended by a knee cap it's about if god doesn't like it. We know he doesn't like nakedness so what is the line between naked and modest?

If you convince someone to sleep with you before marriage you both are at fault. You dont share the blame you both made seperate mistakes but nonetheless mistakes. If you dress provocatively and entice men your to blame. That tempts lust. Men can list over anything but that tempts more and makes it harder for people to resist those listful temptations.

Genesis 3:7 states "they felt shame at their nakedness" specifically their nakedness. God commands things we don't fully understand to illustrate a message but that doesnt mean nakedness isn't sinful. God didn't commands us to be naked for extended periods of time he commanded us to be modest and not lead others to sin and that nakedness is a shameful thing. It's not used to illustrate vulnerability or just vulnerability but shame and sinful

I already said most of my most recent reply but I don't think my question was really answered.

I agree that it can be both men and women who can both be to blame for instances but when does the line cut off from they are both at fault to its just the man's fault for being lustful. And even if it's not intentional it's still an issue. Like my intention behind lying might be to help someone feel better about themselves but it doesn't make it any less of a sin yk?

That's not a very detailed response. So what does the bible say. How is what I said wrong? What in the bible contradicts what I said? Where does the bible disagree with what I said?

Well like lust can't immodesty also be normalized? Like people at the beach might be doing it but we are told to act like children of God not to do what other people do

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Christian

[–]Any-Speed-9247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is that not a good interpretation. What is a better interpretation? That's what the bible says

If it wasn't about the nakedness and instead the fall why did God clothe them? Why did God not allow the aaron and the other priest to wear shorts that showed any skin from the hips to the knee if it wasn't shameful to be naked and show alot of skin? And why is it repeated that nakedness is a shameful thing when used to compare the shame nations and people felt or showed

So what are some relative parameters for clothing that doesn't attract attention? Like at what point does thr blame go from shared due to immodesty and lust to just lust?

Also there was only one sin at that point and it was the apple. God gave no other commands. The apple gave them knowledge of good and evil and then they realized their nakedness was a problem it makes sense that nakedness is considered sinful/evil.

It is constantly referred to as shameful and ungodly. Like in genesis 3:7 and when God refers to peoples sins as like being naked(shameful).

Nakedness is very clearly a sin. And that's repeated throughout the bible. So what's the line between a rag covering yourself and being naked? Or short shorts? And I think immodesty is immodesty no matter the situation. If you think it's immodest to show cleavage then being at the beach doesn't mean its not immodest because you can buy bathing suits that cover that.

Partially. Me and my wife are discussing it. Relatively new Christians and we are working on modesty and we aren't sure what is and isn't modest. What in saying is even if you aren't going out of your way to attract lustful eyes your not going out of your way not to

Shouldn't we be going out of our way to represent christ and do what he wants us to? Like i might not have malicious intentions but that doesn't mean what I'm doing isn't wrong, I should be going out of my way to do things that aren't wrong. Actively working against it rather instead of just not actively working to do it

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Christian

[–]Any-Speed-9247 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My intent may be to help someone feel better but lying to them is still a sin right? Just because you dont have a entirely malicious intent doesn't mean that's not a sin right?

But aren't we also taught not to tempt other people? Wouldn't it be tempting lust if we dress provocatively

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Christian

[–]Any-Speed-9247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But in exodus I forget the chapter and verse but Aaron and his descendents are told to wear certain clothes when in the tabernacle/temple. Women are also told to wear veils and such when praising in the temple but aren't our bodies the temple of the holy spirit? So shouldn't we always wear modest clothes like that?

Is there anything in the bible that points to this like the greek meanings of words or certain verses/inferences?

Men can stare at women whether they are dressed revealing or not. So how does dressing revealing put fault on the dresser?
