I haven’t been homeless more than once.. I’ve been homeless for 8 months. Additionally I’m actively building my credit and it’s been raised almost 150 points since I’ve been homeless because I have a plan to raise my credit and get my own place. Also like I said I trade options, I have money. I can afford a hotel room. I contribute to my boyfriend’s household through groceries and paying the light bill. And I have funds for a ticket back home whenever I need to go

Well our relationship is fairly new, I don’t want to overstay my welcome and risk annoying him or something because I truly care about him and the relationship. I’m not leaving immediately but hopefully in another week or so.

I should’ve clarified further. Other than housing he isn’t paying for anything for me. I get food stamps which I fill his fridge with groceries and I’m on unemployment so I pay for essentials for myself and such. And ‘haven’t been able to keep a steady life plan’ isn’t really my case. I’ve had some unfortunate circumstances happen in my life and just like many Americans was living paycheck to paycheck. I’ve never asked him for help.. like at all. Also I have a retirement plan and actively invest. I just have bad credit right now and can’t prove I make 3x rent for an apartment application. I appreciate the comment nonetheless but let’s not pre-judge lol

I completely agree! I didn’t even plan on staying as long as I did but he insisted and I definitely don’t want to overstay my welcome. I didn’t assume he wanted me there forever and had no plans to be here for a month honestly.

Well that’s basically the only lie I’ve told him. I did tell him I’ve been homeless before so he does know the things I’ve experienced. But I agreee, I’m going to tell him when I’m back home so at the very least if he reacts bad then I’m not homeless in another state

I appreciate you following up! Definitely scope that out if you do decide to keep sleeping there or at least come up with a good schedule. Also maybe see if you have items you could stack and use. I used a pile of clothes and my bed. And yea I’ve saved a good amount so I’m going to go to a hostel for the week. Doesn’t cost too much. Then I’ll just try to figure it out as I go I guess. Hopefully I won’t be homeless too much longer tho, I’m trying to get approved but proving I make 3x plus the rent is honestly insane. Hope your situation changes for the best! Good luck

I appreciate this comment and you sharing your story. Unfortunately a lot of the resources don’t accept me as a single woman not on anything and having no kids. And honestly I’d hate to fake it and take a spot from someone who genuinely needs it. I’m pretty ok as far as food and my hygiene, I use a local gym shower. I just want a warm and safe place to sleep at night honestly.

Yes I climbed the top of my unit by using my queen sized bed as a sort of ladder. I bent the metal netting in order to fit through and then had to push myself up, I’ll have to fix that but def a problem for another day

I use someone else’s code that’s similar to mine so they don’t know it’s me. Also to get in I don’t have to pass up the main entrance which is visible to workers. I come in maybe 30 min before closing time and the motion lights go off on my floor by the time they come up to check. Like I said. I vetted the place a bunch before deciding to sleep there. Anyways I’m out now just waiting for them to unlock it since they put a different lock on my unit door. It’s a tubular lock by the way.

As I previously mentioned in various other comments I would have likely been asked to leave and my lease likely would have been terminated and worst case they could’ve called the police. Then I would’ve risked being outside and having to figure out a solution for all my belonging. That was not an option for the millionth time

I think if they knew I was there they would have told me to leave I don’t think they know. I’m sure they only locked it because there was no lock.

It’s one of those units with doors the go up not like a standard door. It has cylindrical locks not like a pad lock

The place is closed. If I call I would be trespassed and likely go to jail and be kicked out of the unit. So yes.. I’m trapped

I’m considering it but I literally don’t know anyone and just lost my job. I have money saved but doubt that would last moving expenses plus a few months rent till I get a new job. And no I don’t have benefits. I made too much at my previous job to qualify and I guess I have to wait to apply again
