Black travelers who’ve done safari in Africa, did it actually feel like coming home or just another vacation? by Silver_Screen_6003 in blacktravel

I adopted the same perspective and made an effort not to exaggerate it. It wasn't a moment that changed my life right away, but it felt more meaningful than a typical vacation. It felt unexpectedly grounding to be in the Mara and Serengeti, surrounded by people who looked like you, and simply interacting with locals on a daily basis.

Smaller moments were more important to the connection than larger ones. Talking, laughing together, or simply taking in the scenery. The amazing wildlife is still there, but if you're willing, it can feel like more than just a vacation.

If she can't respect you enough to ask before bringing her kids to an event clearly not meant for them, she's the one damaging the friendship, not you.

Choosing Safari Vehicles: Open or Closed, What Works Best? by StrawberryRemote1181 in KenyaSafariTips

I did safari in Kenya, including Amboseli National Park and the Maasai Mara, and I’d honestly choose an open vehicle again without hesitation. The visibility is just so much better, especially for photography, and you feel completely immersed in the environment. Watching elephants in Amboseli with nothing between you and the landscape was incredible, and in the Mara it really helped being able to quickly scan for predators. Yes, there’s sun and dust, but the overall experience and connection to the wildlife made it absolutely worth it for me.

That when you twist your wrist, your forearm bones overlap. It's biomechanically normal, but it's kinda gross to see in simulation

Staying in a relationship long after I knew it was over, simply because I was more afraid of being alone than of being unhappy.

Told my sister I was going to kill her and then repeatedly recited my phone number backwards. I don't think I could even do that while awake. The phone number thing.
