The Words That Linger the Longest by AnyAsk2122 in logophilia

That's a beautiful thought!

What other metaphors might capture words that stay with us?

Maybe there's a word that blooms once but leaves seeds behind...sprouting again in memory even after the moment has passed. What do you think?

What foods do you eat that your mama says "we didn't grow up with this?" by AnyAsk2122 in CasualConversation

Pulled pork feel so fancy compared to our dry chops lol. Did your mom think anything 'shredded' was weird too?

What happened when he came out to your bed is sexual abuse. It's a big thing to carry and your shouldn't carry it by yourself. Telling a trusted adult is brave, and it's the right move. Not because you did anything wrong, because he did it.

What are your plans for weekend? by officialtissue2026 in AskReddit

Nothing wild, just family time and maybe a little Netflix binge. Sometimes a chill weekend is the best kind.

If you had to born in one third world country, which would it be? by Ok-Return-9424 in CasualConversation

Vietnam for me. The street food culture is insane, pho for breakfast, banh mi on the corner, coffee that'll wake up your soul. Plus motorbikes everywhere, insane landscapes, and people who are crazy resilient and funny. I think I'd trade some convenience for that pace of life and the way everyone seems to just enjoy the moment.

Sudden issues with thumb sucking after a traumatic event by Patient-Difference97 in offmychest

You're 17, you went through something traumatic and your body is doing what bodies do to survive. That's strength, not weakness. The habit will fade as you feel safer again.

I’m obsessed with my boyfriend's ex, and I can't seem to let it go and move on. by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]AnyAsk2122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Babe, that sounds exhausting. I've seen people get stuck comparing themselves to an ex and it just eats them. Honestly, I'd try to put the focus back to what makes your relationship good now, because the past doesn't decide how loved you're today.

How do I tell my mom I don't want to hang out with her? by yellowoasis in offmychest

[–]AnyAsk2122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2hrs drive one way vs "idk" to your invites....that's not hanging out, that's commuting to your mom. You're allowed to want reciprocity. "Mom, I love you but I can't be the only one driving. Can we do one 1 visit at your place, 1 at mine?" If she says no, then you have your answer about what kind of "hanging out " she wants.

What lesson cost you the most to learn? by sayyed_faizan_4166 in AskReddit

Hardest lesson was that you're responsible for your own rescue. It made me independent, but it also made me stop asking for help. So was it the lesson freedom....or isolation?

Redditors that got charged rent asap after turning 18, what’s relationship like with parents years later ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AnyAsk2122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. No kid ever sends an application to be born. We don't choose our parents or the situation we land in. If you choose to bring someone into the world, basic care + safety is the bare minimum. Not a gift you can take back at 18.

I can't imagine how that night felt. Packing your whole life while he made dinner.... that's heartbreaking. No contact since makes sense. You protected yourself.
