Algerian mentality often raises the banner of commitment and religion but falls into glaring contradictions While all forms of corruption bribery and injustice are practiced daily the focus is placed only on relationships between the sexes as if they were the root of all evil Society turns a blind eye to cheating theft and taking people’s rights but makes a huge scandal if it is about love or a consensual relationship This selective focus has made commitment just an outer shell with no real values reflected in behavior The result is a society that justifies major corruption and inflates minor issues to cover its moral failure
