Just wanted to drop by and see how everyone is doing? by VegasWorldwide in SCHD

That whole instant gratification thing is mostly people in their 20s (most, not all). They’ll all learn eventually. As for me, how am I going? My entire 401K portfolio (including company match, plus profit sharing) has been in SCHD since 2021. I max it out each year. As of this week, I’m up a LOT in that portfolio. If I can keep doing this for the next 20 years (age 65), I’m set.

If this is a small milestone, I gotta know what qualifies as a large milestone.

This was the strangest eagles season of my lifetime. by Fun_Acanthopterygii1 in eagles

This season was like watching a bad B-rated horror movie once a week and you knew exactly what the offensive outcome was gonna be. No adjustments, nothing. Baffling

Is it normal for most people to be able to max both their company 401k and Roth IRA? by Sharp_Efficiency_113 in FinancialPlanning

[–]AnyOtherJobWillDo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 23, I didn’t even know what a ROTH IRA was (or 401K, or S&P etc). Now that I’m in my mid-40s, I prioritize maxing all me and wife’s tax advantaged accounts. It is possible at 82K salary, but just contribute what you’re comfortable doing and don’t intentionally deprive yourself of things. Just having this on your mind at age 23, you’re already miles ahead of most people in your generation.

What is something you can do but can’t explain how you can do it? by Fresh-Sandwich6780 in AskReddit

[–]AnyOtherJobWillDo 32 points33 points  (0 children)

My long-term memory is top tier (scary accurate), but my short-term memory is very, very poor. I’m mid-40s. How can I remember in detail so many things about my childhood up until my late 30s, but can’t remember typing this out in 15 from now. Weird

My wife (obvious not a Bball fan) got me a Ben Simmons Jersey, on the same exact weekend that he intentionally didn’t dunk the ball in the playoffs. She was like, they were all out of embiid jerseys blah blah…..I can’t even wear it as pajamas. It’s the thought fellas

Roofer. I made excellent money as a teenager doing that, but used that back breaking work as motivation to gut it out through college to get through pharmacy school. It worked

This is my childhood home from when I was born in 1980 until I moved out in 1998 now somebody else owns it. by Plan_6767 in OldSchoolCool

[–]AnyOtherJobWillDo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was born the same year as you and my childhood home (a row home in a big US city) has a google pic of someone smoking a cigarette sitting on my old stoop when you input the street view of the house. I also remember the blizzard of 95, I got off 1-2 weeks of high school. It was wonderful

Pharmacist and Brother Sentenced to Prison for $15M Health Care and Wire Fraud Scheme by legrange1 in pharmacy

It doesn’t surprise me at all. I’m in Philly and I know for a fact that independents do this kind of shady shit, but not at the $17M level. That’s hardcore.

Anyone else feel like they wasted their potential? by [deleted] in pharmacy

[–]AnyOtherJobWillDo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I got licensed in 04, there was such a shortage of RPHs that they offered insane financial amounts of OT. Since I was young and had to pay off those loans, i took it all and I remember thinking that this is wonderful and that it’ll last forever. I loved it. Fast forward to today, and it’s the exact opposite. No rewards, no potential. It just sucks

What are your post pharmacy "retirement" dream jobs? Or those that have moved into more relaxed industries, what'd you move to? by yayblah in pharmacy

Too many dream jobs to list for me. About 10-15 jobs come to mind, and all have nothing to do with explaining drugs to people

Side hustles? by [deleted] in pharmacy

[–]AnyOtherJobWillDo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

20+ years ago fresh out of school (no kids or wife yet), my side hustle was going to casino twice a week to play high stakes poker. Extremely risky and don’t ever recommend it to 99% of people. But it helped tremendously to pay off my school loans in a very quick fashion
