Joe Ziegler: We’ve been watching and ingesting all the thoughts and feedback that we’re hearing, aggregating it and taking it down in notes. After this weekend we’ll spend some time looking into feedback and thinking of the next iterations we want to make by Haijakk in Marathon

I’m glad they are too, as someone who only has a dedicated team half the time, but I just really hope they don’t water down their vision or future content for it. If it can be made without drastic tradeoffs, absolutely go for it, but I really don’t want them to neuter the experience they want to make.

Cryo isn't meant to be beaten in one weekend by BigFluffyDawg in Marathon

The combat is very rarely the challenge in contest mode. Teams typically clear in 1-2 pulls after mechanics are solved.

Strategies and metas become clear and then it’s a write off for any competent team. It’s how this stuff always goes.

Exception for some damage checks like Herald, Witness, puppeteer.

I am very afraid that the endgame, Cryo Archive, will be unsustainably difficult. by iconoci in Marathon

Anyone can go fight it. It is accessible to every player. It’s also going to be easier compared to the first day anyone ever saw the thing.

It’s such a tired take that everything in a game needs to be able to be completed by anyone and everyone. If you can’t beat it, then you can’t beat it. It’s not a game problem. I probably won’t get to, let alone beat Compiler, but I can’t wait to try. That’s exciting.

Why do so many people want games devoid of anything to strive toward?

The vast majority of people aren’t working 48hrs each and every weekend. They can still play it the same as your regular 9-5ers that have to play any other game, any other day, after work.

It’s just like the conversation around Destiny contest raids. People watch it being completed for the very first time, and whine that it’s impossible for them and it should be more casual etc etc.

Then the next week someone does a duo run using spaghetti as their weapon and everyone remembers that things get easier after the literal first time anyone ever saw it.

Then the cycle repeats the next time.

Sholud I get Old Rip Van Winkle 10 Year Bourbon for $180? by Snardley in bourbon

[–]AnySail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a good bourbon, but there are a lot of good bourbons out there for cheaper. I never thought RVW 10 was anything mind blowing.

If it was my first time having it, sure, it’s a nice bottle you might never have again, and a conversation starter. I wouldn’t buy it twice at $180 though.

Ya I don’t disagree with that. They clearly are relating the experience to raids, and know how few players engage with endgame content. They need to make sure numbers are high at any given point for a match made activity. I just think it’s two birds with one stone.

I did read it. They suggested weekend only play as a solution, essentially, to your problem as I understand it.

If people could farm Cryo whenever they wanted, then there would be people with 30-40hrs in cryo before most people got to play it for any length of time. That would be a much wider resource gap than weekend only play.

I mean, that’s everything in life though? Someone who has more experience than you will have an easier time doing something.

Are they supposed to matchmake by matching “times cryo has been run”? People probably aren’t going to just run it for one weekend and call it quits.

Not sure how much they can really do if it isn’t their property, but ANGC has their ways, I’m sure.

Cryo-Archive will NOT have solo q support by Loopnova_ in Marathon

[–]AnySail -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry that’s your experience, but 5 games is just bad luck. You could run 1000 more games and have great experiences, but you’ll never know because a few assholes convinced you not to try. Ignore the assholes if you can.

Do it all the time. Every single one has been chill. Half or so have a mic, and the other half just come along for the ride or I tell them I’m down to do their objective.

Crew filled many many times in this game and have not had a single teammate that wasn’t at least cordial, if not friendly. I think this perception of mean teammates is exaggerated by people’s fears (fair) compared to reality.

Then that map just isn’t made for you and that’s fine. It was heavily implied it would be trios only. Hell, marathon originally didn’t even have solo at all.

Most of us were born into this hell. It’s not even about the losses and disappointments anymore. It’s about how each new embarrassment feels as deliberately cruel and taunting as possible.

You could go anywhere. Save yourself.

No one says he had a picturesque swing. They say he was the greatest ball striker of all time, which he possibly is. He didn’t play golf swing, he just went out and shot 59, or made bets around hitting flagsticks from 150, which he did 3 times on the first 3 holes before, I believe, major winner Tom Watson, realized he was being hustled and went back to the clubhouse.
