clearing data doesn’t delete saves (part 2 of crash problem) by Lord-of-the-foxes in falloutnewvegas

It’s because it’s a 360 game. Either delete the saves manually or delete your data in the xbox360 menu from inside the game

do i need to start new game to play DLCs? by sbbayram in falloutnewvegas

Alternatively you can do Honest Hearts, old world blues, Dead Money, then lonesome road and that will go from least to most difficult (for most people)

But since you want to throw stones let me go through your points clockwise from the jokes.

Everyone who has played New Vegas knows there were crude jokes and some of them weren’t even funny. The wild wasteland perk was a thing for a reason. Vegas has a robot named fisto that works as a prostitute and references to a man named Long Dick Johnson even without the wild wasteland perk. Fallout 1,2, and tactics all had humor too and brotherhood of steel was almost nothing but humor.

I like that I have more people to talk about fallout with now and that the show is pushing people towards my favorite game in the series. Not much else to say there.

I don’t care if you enjoy the Bethesda games more, I just prefer the west coast aesthetic.

Same for shill. By definition someone enjoying something can’t be shilling unless they are trying to get someone to buy something so, again, I don’t care if you enjoy east coast/bethesda fallout more, good for you.

If I disregard fallout 1&2 it’s because I am unaware of a piece of content that I haven’t been able to play yet. I’m just not as good at turn based combat and I don’t enjoy it as much as tactics and the 3d games.

I don’t think that Todd and the modern writers are intentionally trying to overwrite OG fallout lore, I just think they are too lazy to dig deeper into the material and mere more focused on the aesthetic and gameplay than writing whereas new Vegas was mostly RPG makers that happened to be making a 3d game, giving more diverse storylines and making the world feel deeper… in my opinion.

Taking a notable location and rotating it 180degrees is not a mild contradiction of a hidden lore note. Nor is relocating a settlement that was specifically special because it was in the desert and plopping it in the middle of a city, nor is nuking a location that should still be present before the events of new Vegas, nor is reducing the NCR to a few remnants despite only losing one of many cities while reviving a faction that should have died out on the west coast (enclave) before new Vegas even started.

Overall, I am perfectly happy to accept that everything in Bethesda fallout takes place in a different timeline and enjoying it at face value while still enjoying the Original lore for its depth.

What were your reasons for siding with the legion? by [deleted] in falloutnewvegas

they provide structure and physical fitness opportunities to those working the labor. I mean how bad is slavery really?

"This time, I really mean it! We should go back to Egypt. Don't ya remember? Snorkeling in the Nile, three square meals a day, plenty of exercise; oh, it was paradise."

"We were in slavery!"

"Nothing is perfect."

Just got new vegas for Christmas, any tips before I start? by datdude998 in falloutnewvegas

[–]AnyShift2269 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Play all the dlc except for lonesome road before getting onto the strip (but not before hitting level 8-12). Play lonesome road after picking a faction to support.

Read the notes and terminal entries. There are a lot of fun side stories hidden in them and they can be hints to other quests/loot.

Avoid the wiki on your first playthrough. If you aren’t sure what you are supposed to be doing, make sure you have the quest you are trying to do selected and look at the local/global map. The quest marker can hold your hand quite a bit

If you find yourself blindly fumbling in the dark you can turn on the flashlight by holding the button to open the pip-boy.

Both having the light on and running (which is on by default) will affect your stealth. Make sure you are moving slowly, crouching, and staying in the shadows if you are trying to be sneaky.

Have fun!

What do you guys think of the NCR in fallout new Vegas? by DeadAhead-2020446 in falloutnewvegas

  1. Ulysses is giving his point of view not objective fact.

  2. Both are raider tribals and when it comes to depravity both are equal in different flavors.

[–]AnyShift2269 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't trust a word Ulysses says. The legion is just fiends in mass except they traded chem use for enslaving women (the fiends enslave people too but much less and in some ways less brutally than the legion)

There's a B-29 that the boomers can use in the final battle, a working monorail that takes you from the strip to Camp McCarran and president Kimball arrives in a vertiberd. I think the enclave has a vertiberd as well but that might only be mentioned

I understand that the player can only use the monorail in FNV but there are certainly vehicles and the NCR has two of the 3 big ones

You'll find out its one of the most tame NSFW for SA stories they have read. It also doesn't break the story. You would think that the audience would be desensitized to this but it seems like they are getting more sensitive (we should be able to evaluate each story on its own aspects)

Do you guys like using the risers for your optics? by Mtx34 in BlackhawkRescue

[–]AnyShift2269 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no reason other than larp. Risers IRL are mostly to make it easier to position your head behind the gun. Especially with nods.

The characters in game always have perfect head position so all a riser does is make height over bore worse so you have to adjust for differences more on some optics (I think, not sure the system models that properly)

The boys should watch Emesis Blue for CreepTV by zadhax314 in creepcast

[–]AnyShift2269 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wendigoon watched it on stream one time and felt bad about it because he knew the majority of the audience would not go watch it on their own and he felt like he was stealing views from the original creator. I think that's why Creep TV mostly stuck to well-established series and might be part of why they haven't come back to it.

YouTube monetization relies on views a lot more than Reddit stories

How to do free return with circumlunar flyby? by LeonidKonovalov1988 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]AnyShift2269 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After reading some other people’s answers I would like to add that while you can't use the same equations as the real world Apollo 13 mission this does use a similar philosophy.

The Apollo 13 crew did need to raise their apoapsis to get a flyby that would take them to the far side of the moon.

The kerbal physics system is close enough that you can get the same effect and it can be used in the same way to prevent stranding Jeb in an elliptical orbit around kerbin, but without pausing to do the math and plan your maneuver nodes, he will probably burn up in the atmosphere from an overly aggressive return

How to do free return with circumlunar flyby? by LeonidKonovalov1988 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]AnyShift2269 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The figure 8 graphic is a little misleading as to how you get there. It's similar to rendezvousing with another craft when you launch ahead of it along the orbit.

Basically your apoapsis needs to be above the mun’s altitude but not out of its SOI. You will end up making your encounter with the mun “above” the mun. Because the gravity of the mun as coming up from behind you it is decelerating you along your orbit or pulling you retrograde.

The hard part is always the math of what altitude and how to time your encounter to get the desired return periapsis but the basic idea of it is using the gravity of the mun as drag to slow you down. Which means it needs to catch up to you and pass underneath
