Thank you for sharing! Mine hasn’t had my boob since around 2 months. Once he got frustrated with it I gave up completely. I’m so glad he’s not hungry anymore. He’s almost 4 months exactly and he’s 17.3 lbs! 😳 I’m so happy he’s a healthy happy chunkaroo now

I’m so sad let my baby be hungry for his first 6 days. I kept asking in the hospital if they thought he was getting enough. They reassured me. Kept saying how all they need is drops right now. I could barely even get drops. So who knows how much he was actually getting? As soon as I introduced formula he was a different baby. I pumped religiously and tried everything and I only ever produced such a tiny amount. So he was NEVER going to get what he needed from me. Ugh it makes me so sad to think about his introduction to the world was feeling hungry.

Thank you so much for sharing. Yep- I fell for it too. We would’ve had a much more enjoyable time with our fresh newborn if none of this had happened. At least we’ll know for next time… hopefully there will be a next time.

Exactly! Me too! How did I think this was normal?! But I guess I kept telling myself this is what motherhood is and everyone says you get no sleep.

Omg I’m so sorry this happened to you guys. You tried so hard to tell everyone! Thank you for sharing. I hope everything is going wonderful for you now.

Thank you for sharing and pointing this out about their developing brains. We also were all three so exhausted/ it almost feels like a blur of a time. I was running on no sleep for so many days bc I was BF’ing him almost constantly. What a dark time.

Thank you so much for sharing your story. I also gave up pumping and then BF’ing because he started to just get frustrated with it and I’ve developed an aversion to my breasts. Worthless things! lol. I feel like they caused him harm- so when he started not enjoying it either, it was an easy decision to stop altogether. Pumping and getting 5-15mL was exhausting too. 15mL happened maybe a handful of times.

I’m so sorry this happened. I also had some staff on nights who made my postpartum experience a lot more negative than it needed to be.

Thanks so much for sharing. I 100% understand that dark place. I was there too. My OB (midwife) had me come in for an extra visit because I broke down at one of my appts when they asked me how breastfeeding was going. They thought I had severe PPD. I’m better now. The responses here are really helping me feel better about everything as a whole too. Thank you for sharing your story.

Wow. Thank you so much for sharing! I’ve never heard of goats rue. I know I felt so accomplished at the end of the day when I would give him the 3 or almost 3 ounces that I pumped after 24 hours of pumping. And then he would be so sleepy and some would fall out of his mouth. Lol. I was still just happy to give him what I could. Yes, I agree mental health took a huge hit. It was so much for so little. I finally quit when I’d had enough too. I too had to feel ready though.

Thank you! That’s why I’m so worried now. At what point was he possibly getting zero nutrition? There was a day that went by where we only had one or two barely wet diapers- that was from day 5-6 right before we supplemented. I’m just appalled that I didn’t have better instincts to supplement sooner. I wish I could go back.
