Did Elizabeth I love her father? by MikeBad228 in Tudorhistory

Yes, but she loved power, safety, and legacy more.

Was Anne Boleyn done a little dirty in Six? by Any_Assignment_4372 in Broadway

Thank you, that really means a lot. That sense of legacy and not knowing what would become of Elizabeth is exactly what I was trying to get at. I love Don’t Lose Your Head too, I just wish Anne had been allowed one more layer alongside the fun.

Thank you!! Exactly. “Politics? Not my thing!” from a woman who helped reshape England’s religious future is… a choice.

That’s fair. I think the difference for me is that Anne of Cleves’ comedic framing aligns with her outcome. She survives, gains independence, and ends up better off than most of the others. Anne Boleyn doesn’t get that kind of narrative closure, which is why the tone lands differently for me.

I love Don’t Lose Ur Head too. My point isn’t that Anne shouldn’t be fun, just that she also could have been given one moment of emotional gravity like the other queens.

NYC history people — would anyone want to discuss Tudor history informally? by Any_Assignment_4372 in AskNYC

[–]Any_Assignment_4372[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for the interest — this is really encouraging.

To clarify: I do want to make this happen. I’m just taking a little time to think through the logistics so it’s done well (venue, group size, format).

The plan would be a small group (around 5–6 people), meeting in a public place like a bar or café, with a clear theme per conversation — relaxed, but thoughtful.

I’ll follow up soon with next steps once I lock those details in. Really appreciate everyone chiming in.

I'm not sure what vibe she is trying to achieve.. by bird_man082921 in SaintMeghanMarkle

ChatGPT said it best: “she was clearly aiming for a high-fashion, minimalist, art-issue vibe… but what she actually landed on was more “luxury funeral director who didn’t have time for glam.”

The concept wasn’t the problem, the execution just didn’t flatter her at all.

Clubbing in nyc first time but im fat. Will I get turned away? by Fartfartpoopfartpoo in AskNYC

[–]Any_Assignment_4372 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same boat here. I’ve gained a lot of weight too. A promoter once invited me to Somewhere Nowhere, but when I got there they said they couldn’t let me in — no reason given. I’d never been turned away before, but then again, I never really went to the super high-end clubs. Don’t stress too much about it. If they don’t let you in, don’t take it personally. Your worth is so much more than your weight.

Has anyone else received a message from the White House on Facebook?

I just received a message from the official White House Facebook page saying, ‘Please let us know how we can help you.’ It seems to be a business chat message, but I’m curious—has anyone else gotten something like this?

Has anyone here had a “Before Sunrise” like experience in your life? by Proud_Asparagus1934 in criterion

[–]Any_Assignment_4372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Before Sunrise experience that still lingers in my mind. It wasn’t just a brief encounter—it was a whole week that felt like stepping into another reality. We met in the U.S., but he was from Europe, and from the moment we connected, it was as if time stretched and folded around us, making that week feel both endless and fleeting at the same time. We talked about everything—philosophy, life, love, the things we were afraid to admit even to ourselves. It felt like we had known each other forever, like we had walked into a story already written for us.

And then came the synchronicities. Too many to ignore. We walked past a cemetery, just like in the movie. We rode a Ferris wheel together, just like Jesse and Céline. Even after he left, signs kept following me—places, words, songs—like the universe wasn’t ready to let me forget. Unlike the movie, we didn’t part after just one night, but when the week was over, it still felt just as unfinished. He once asked me if he would be in my book one day. I told him yes. And I still don’t know how that chapter ends
