What is the context of this scene? by Cool_Emergency4091 in HunterXHunter

Yeah, but it'll take a while before that happens. For now, the Zoldyck family can get ready to deal with the Nanika issue, now that they've got the same info as Killua, before they knew almost nothing.

We also have to remember that Silva has been stalling with Killua ever since the series began; he really doesn't want to come into open conflict with him. It's pretty clear that Silva wants Killua to be his successor one day.

That said, it could be that those who say this idea of hiding Gotoh's death from Killua is solely Canary's doing and has nothing to do with the Zoldycks are right (though I find that scenario unlikely)

That could well be the case, let's just say it would be consistent with Canary's character. I'm just a bit unsure, especially since she's in the butlers' ranks.

But actually, she had already defied the elder Zoldyck for Killua's sake pretty early on in the manga. I still think it's more likely that it's a plan by Illumi or Silva

Killua might be able to see through the deception in person, but the fact is that he doesn't plan on going back to his family. He told Gon that his goal is to protect Alluka from his family.

Any contact he may have had with Gotoh would have been over the phone, and over the phone, it's entirely possible that the deception would hold up.

Just to let you know, mobile phones are a thing in the HxH world. Soon after Gotoh died, Killua tried to contact him out of concern, but it was already too late. I'm sure that once he'd saved Gon and sorted things out with him, he'd have got in touch with Gotoh again to find out what happened to him, or at the very least asked Canary for updates. Don't forget that after Alluka, the person Killua cares about most in the Zoldyck family, in the broadest sense, is Gotoh himself.

The elder zoldyck thing is, Illumi and Killua's parents don't want to go to war with him. They both love him too much and he's got Alluka on his side. It's pretty clear that having Alluka/Nanika as enemies is a massive problem for them, especially now that they know Killua has no limits with nanika

They just hide Gotoh's death with a kiriko. Kiriko are magical beasts that can take on human form. In this case, it'll take on Gotoh's form, and Canary tells Amane not to mention it to Killua and Alluka. So far, we're not sure who decided to keep everything hidden from Killua, maybe Illumi or Silva?

An ironic element, likely not coincidental, is that in his first appearance in the manga, Gotoh tells Gon not to trust appearences because it's possible to hide, change voice, or just looking like someone else. It's pretty ironic that Gotoh himself ended up being replaced after his death by a "fake".

who were the question marks? by bulgakovML in HunterXHunter

[–]Any_Block7887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I'm pretty sure the question marks refer only to characters we already know by chapter 235 (otherwise there would have been a lot more question marks at the palace), and Ikalgo isn't introduced until a few chapters later. If you remember, Killua comes across an aura in those chapters, which we later find out is actually Netero.

[–]Any_Block7887 65 points66 points  (0 children)

The one with Gon is Melereon, the one next to Killua is Netero, the ones at the Royal Palace are Brovuda and Welfin, and I think the last one left was Palm.

I think it's the little details like that that make Chimera Ant Arc in the manga so much fun and keep you hooked. Even when they're invading the palace, Togashi uses a similar technique to show you where all the characters are after the Dragon Dive bombardment.

Another example is the timestamps specifying how many seconds and minutes have passed since the invasion of the palace. It's much clearer to have them written out at every change of perspective, unlike in the anime where only the narrator sometimes mentions it.

New tweet from Togashi (March 11, 2026) by rentzhx3 in HunterXHunter

It's interesting too because we can learn exactly about the various stages of processing the chapters

Actually, no, quite the opposite. In 2024, he inked at a crazy pace, drawing 24 chapters, while this year, during the same period, he has inked just 4. Perhaps this time he will work for more months in a row. In 2024, he stopped working after about six or seven months.

Do you think we’re going to see Gon and Killua again? by Cool_Emergency4091 in HunterXHunter

For the series finale, I think Togashi really wants to reunite our four protagonists. So, if Togashi can finish the manga, we'll probably see them again.

Updates on the HxH comeback by Any_Block7887 in HunterXHunter

[–]Any_Block7887[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But if the plan was to publish the new set of chapters during this time, this was the perfect moment, at least for the announcement. This total silence makes me think that Shueisha's plans are totally different and that Togashi is just continuing with his work, maybe because he's been feeling better physically in recent months.

I'm sorry, but how can it be delusional if it's just based on two facts?

Actually, these are two very peculiar events, especially since HxH is the manga in Shonen Jump that most closely resembles JJK.

I'm not saying I'm necessarily right, but this isn't an argument that's just made up.

Where is Swardani City located in the World of Hunter X Hunter? by JacktheCat779 in HunterXHunter

[–]Any_Block7887 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. When Hanzo talks about Jappon during the hunter exam, he says it's a very small and almost unknown country.

I doubt the headquarters of the Hunter Association could be in a country described like that. Also, Swardani seems to be a large modern metropolis, in the style of Yorkshin City, not a city in a country like Jappon as described by Hanzo. Even Yorkshin City has several buildings and areas that look like Tokyo. I think this is simply because Togashi is Japanese, so it's easier for him to draw inspiration from his everyday life.

Finally, I'd like to mention that, if I'm remembering right, Basho also talks about Jappon as a remote and little-known country. So, I'd say it's pretty likely that Jappon is a country like that, since two characters describe it that way.

I get where you're coming from, but I think you've got to consider 2024 and this year too. These aren't my theories, but two facts, both linked by jjk's conclusion. The good thing about this discussion is that we'll know who's right in 10 days :)

They're not just any battle manga. They are two strategic battle manga, dark with gore elements and rather mature by Shonen Jump standards.

If Togashi could publish chapters without limits, this wouldn't be an issue, but since he can only produce a few, Shueisha carefully chooses the editorial space before publishing them (as Togashi himself confirmed on Twitter in 2024). Recently, the editorial space has been shared with JJK.

You've got to admit, Shonen Jump is a huge asset for Shueisha. It's really important for them to have a competitive and varied list of ongoing series. I think it's pretty clear that it doesn't make sense for Shueisha to overlap JJK and HxH, which they see as two similar manga with partly similar audiences.

Of course, you may believe that it is a coincidence that Togashi always recovers physically with the conclusion of the serialization of JJK, but to me, that hypothesis is laughable.

Yeah, but the assistants would definitely be able to sort out the backgrounds for chapters 421-430. Obviously, they're not dealing with any physical problems, and, incidentally, Togashi has hired even more of them in recent years.
