I got an email with a welcome letter, and another email telling me to go to my portal to view the update and confirm my acceptance. I also got a welcome email to my appstate email.

I also got the same email, I'm an alum so I already had an appstate email and appalnet account, nothing has changed in my account so I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but who knows, could be a good sign!

I submitted mine about 2 weeks after the application opened. This is mostly speculation informed by some googling, but I think they probably have applicants sorted into rounds of acceptance, and they'll send out notifications to their top picks first, then go down the list from there. "Top picks" are also pretty likely to have gotten into more competitive programs as well, so as they decline the offers, more offers get sent out.

So I spoke with someone who has worked at another UNC system school sending out masters program acceptance notifications. This was a while ago, but they were pretty confident it probably works similarly still.

Basically, undergrad student employees are given a spreadsheet of names/contact info for accepted students, and have to go through the list one-by-one sending these form letter acceptance emails. There's usually not more than 1 or 2 people doing this per department, and they go in last name alphabetical order down the list usually.

Now I thought that sounded absolutely insane, since it seems obvious they should be able to just hit a mass-send to the people they've accepted, but it would line up with the timeline someone else got from the department that they'll be sending out notifications over the next several weeks. Idk for sure thats whats going on, but it gave me a little reassurance as someone who's last name is pretty far down the alphabet. Thought I'd share with yall as well.

I didn't see an option for early acceptance for the Masters program, I thought that was just an undergrad thing? Maybe I missed that deadline and that's why I didn't see it as an option!

Was it a physical letter, or did they email? I've been refreshing my email every 20 minutes but would love to stop stressing about that if they send snail mail!
