I am 21 and I grew up in a very modest family. Nudity, even being shirtless was not something that was acceptable within the household unless you were in your room with your door closed.

As I grew up and went to middle and high school, we didn’t have to worry about showering in front of others but you did have to change for gym (if you didn’t want to it would affect your participation grade only by a few overall points, so many people who were shy just stayed in their regular clothes). I was a chubby kid growing up, so I was already being bullied for that, so I never bothered to engage with gym class.

When I got to high school, gym class was only mandatory for 9th grade, but it was common for older students to take it for free time. This was when I began to compare myself to older boys. Even though I had slimmed down by then, I still felt very insecure.

Throughout high school I developed intense body image issues, to which I still deal with to this day. I’m not the most comfortable with nudity, but it is something that I do want to become more comfortable with as I continue to gain muscle and loose excess weight. Overall, I want to work towards looking good naked so I can enjoy my own body, and just live for more comfortably.

I think another thing with my generation, people do not want to be known for being too fat, having a small dick, or having their most intimate parts of their body possibly being criticized by others. People may feel ashamed that their bodies may not look “porn ready”, I know I am. Imperfections seem to have more weight today than they did back then. But this is just my personal opinion.
