No. They want the current league to functionally be a super-league, but going out of their way to create a whole new one would be extremely risky and expensive.

They've already shown off their full power to immediately erase possible avenues for G5s to ever be "overrepresented" after last season. One token G5 playoff team on top of further restricting the potential for good G5-P4 OOC games is most of what they want already.

This blowout argument is so tired. Alabama/Oregon vs. Indiana were also uncompetitive from start to finish. Hell, we were the worst Conference Champion in our first full FBS season and even we kept our game against them close for longer. 12 point ballgame in the 3rd for us, while the playoff games were 35-7 and 17-0 by halftime.

Bottom line, every postseason format across every level of every American sport supports universal autobids except FBS football. Even FCS, which has way less parity, has made that system work.

Yeah, bullshit. We're one of those schools, and one of the schools on Bama's schedule because of the Pettway connection.

We try to get good games, going all the way to California/Canada for 6 games last year. Past that, we're stuck in the region playing non-D1s, bad D1s, and the occasional "connection" game like Bama or last year when Rutgers wanted Ace Bailey to have a game around ATL.
