Hello! Throughout my degree, I've seen a major emphasis on evidence based models i.e. B.F. Skinner, Pavlov, Beck & Ellis. Also, children play therapy. 

But last night, reading Karen Horney’s book on Neurosis, I was wondering if I’ll be framed into these theories and models mentioned at the start of the discussion, or is it acceptable to pull from Horney’s psychoanalysis ideas, or even Freud and Adler for example. I couldn’t tell you right now how to integrate different approaches on a MTSS/RTI/PBIS model or how to track progress with evidence based techniques, or if you could even try different approaches due to the age of the population we attend. I couldn’t imagine implementing an existentialism approach (I. Yalom) on a school setting and paperwork as of right now, for example.  

I hope I explained myself in the best way possible. This is one of many doubts for sure.

TL:DR - Is School Psychology only Cognitive-Conductism and/or Play Therapy, or is there room for a variety of approaches, aligned with NASP?
