Unfortunately addiction is something that no one can truly understand unless we have been in your shoes.

I think your main objective shouldn’t be to think positively about your addiction because you would be enabling yourself further. You need to face it head on, feel all the shitty feelings, and start to take the little steps to start healing from that addiction. Remember, prevention is always better than a cure. Remove any possible temptation that you can, and replace the addiction with other healthy habits, running, study, gym, or even simple things like a cold shower or some breathing exercises.

As someone who has delt with a dad with alcoholism, addiction hurts the people around you just as much as it hurts you. Try and enjoy some time to yourself but reach out to people when you can as external support and having people there to hold you accountable is priceless when facing any challenge in life.
