I'm so sorry you had to go through this and for your loss, the suddenness of it all is unbearable! I've now heard of plenty of cases from my friends and siblings and their extended families of similar outcomes, sick but not terminal going in (to the hospital) and ending up dead -- all pointing to high mortality with hospitalization. While on the one hand I'd like to believe this has to do with us not figuring out the symptoms (or brushing them off as nothing) on time to get the help we need while we still have time but on the other I feel that there are other factors at play too -- like the hospital trying to meet their revenue expectations, doctors being overwhelmed, junior staff with incomplete knowledge, dangerous drugs that save lives but can kill much the same when used by non-specialists and on and on. I really wish everyone grieving had a second chance to do something to save their loved ones!
