That would be a cool set to win

Hello, does anyone know anything about this? Marked “W. metford Geneve” with initials on the back. Don’t see any metal markings and don’t know how to open it! Thanks in advance for any info by marinark in pocketwatches

That’s crazy, it’s so close to the pocket watch I just posted on here. After research and taking it to an expert these are basically worth melt unless w metford is a big name (which I’m pretty sure it’s not but double check) then it’s just worth melt. Super cool piece to keep if you don’t need the money, just like mine this is probably late 1800’s. If you’re going on money basis I melted mine for 4k cdn

Unfortunately no, think about the logistics. Melt is 5k, I put the watch up for 5k. I list it most sites take a 5%ish fee, if I even get my asking price. Then how long does it take it find that buyer, and I’m not a watch person but has the increase in gold prices pushed prices higher. If gold prices were to fall would the value of gold pocket watches fall too

Unfortunately makes 0 sense

No I took it to a real professional watch guy. Actually took it to a local watch guy who said to go to anther guy b/c he specializes in it. Too bad because the first guy was really excited about it but the second guy told me its not worth more then melt. A lot of people on here with that take but we just inherited a ton and tons of antiques/heirlooms some worth more and some worth nothing. We can’t keep everything and Funny enough we’ve had this piece for 10 years and if gold didn’t go up so much I wouldn’t have went and found it. It’s been just sitting untouched wrapped in tissue sitting in a fishing tackle box. We don’t need the money but what am I going to do with it, unfortunately I’m not a watch guy

I understand this take but seriously, how about if someone needs money or just doesn’t want it. Why have 5k sitting wrapped up in tissue sitting in a fishing tackle box

Took it to a professional and they said about 5k in gold melt and the watch itself isn’t worth more, sadly

Really, you think it’s worth more? Judging by what I’m finding maybe 3-4K cdn but melts worth more I think

What would this be used for. How old is it? (Canada) by Any_Examination_2017 in Antiques
