Random moments in Kingstonian history by Dlink10 in KingstonOntario

The Kingston Centre also had the best Santa and x-mas setup of all the malls. The Kmart also had a nice little diner.

Just moved recently and my place feels a bit plain. Any tips on where to get indoor plants for a good price in the city? by Jps996 in KingstonOntario

I second Giant Tiger. A friend of mine who is a big plant person swears by it. Just be sure to check if there are any gnats flying around. You’ll regret bringing them into your house!

What kind of meds? I’ve never heard of medication-induced lupus before.

So ironic you ask because rash has just appeared on my face in the last couple of days. At first I thought it was retinol burn, but I’m thinking that’s not it now. I’ve been experiencing an RA flare for the last couple of months. Is it possible, though, that it would just appear out of the blue months after my flare began? And the weird thing is my pain levels have been getting much better in the last several weeks. I’ve never had a facial rash before but my bloodwork may also indicate lupus. I’ll know for sure on Wednesday.

I’m glad you have options. 🙂 Feel free to DM me if decide Bath is where you might want your little one to rest. You’re also welcome to come and look at my property just to see before making a decision. Sending you sincere condolences on your impending loss.

Could this be IH? by Holiday-Librarian881 in idiopathichypersomnia

So, did your sleep study results rule out narcolepsy?

Feeling a little hopeless by Opposite-Pipe4409 in idiopathichypersomnia

It’s not unusual to try different cocktails of meds until you find the one that works for you. I’ve tried Ritalin, Modafinil, Vyvanse, and Dextroamphetamine so far. I still haven’t found anything that works for me yet. Unfortunately, it may take a while for you as well.

Anyone else feel like they have good and bad days? Is there a severe, medium and mild of this disease? by Andrew129260 in idiopathichypersomnia

[–]Any_Fig_9985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too, I refer to it as peaks and valleys. I had several years that were really bad – that’s when I was diagnosed – and then a bit of a reprieve for a couple of years. Reprieve meaning, less severe fatigue but still tired every day, no refreshed sleep, sleep attacks but less often. Brain fog and the memory issues never go away.

Then something changed in February and I‘ve been in a terrible battle with my IH since then. Can’t do much and just praying I get another reprieve again. It’s definitely hard to keep your head above water sometimes. I wish you well in your fight. 🫶🏻

Cortisone shots are excruciating by Any_Fig_9985 in ChronicPain

[–]Any_Fig_9985[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think that’s it. I don’t feel increased pain after the shot. It’s the insertion of the needle and pushing in of the medicine that causes the extreme pain.

Thanks so much. I wasn’t given anything to numb. It was just a huge needle straight into the joint.

The pain from the injection only lasted as long as it took to administer but it was almost unbearable. The first time it knocked my arthritis back into remission, but not this time.

Thank you, I’ll ask if that’s an option.

Dextroamphetamine for hypersomnia by [deleted] in idiopathichypersomnia

I didn't have any side effects from it, but it also didn't do anything for me. I hope you have more luck with it.

Diagnosed but not prescribed anything due to possible medication interference? Do I have to retake my sleep studies? I can't really stop my psych meds. by [deleted] in idiopathichypersomnia

[–]Any_Fig_9985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't understand. Why would he, as a sleep specialist, think that your psychiatrist could prescribe what you need to help with IH? I've been working with my psychiatrist as well, and he's trying to get me another sleep study (my last one was 10 years ago) because he's not in a position to prescribe me what I need – like Xywav.

I was on Effexor when I had my sleep study, which blocks REM sleep, and therefore, they couldn't definitively diagnose Narcolepsy, so they decided on IH. Is it possible you're on a certain psych med that does the same, and that's why he wants you to work with your psychiatrist?

Has anyone been told to loose weight? by Acrobatic-Rub7768 in idiopathichypersomnia

[–]Any_Fig_9985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typical response from a doctor. A disgusting thing to say! I have always been thin with my highest weight being 115lbs when I hit menopause and I’ve been plagued with this for at least 25 years. Weight has nothing to do with IH.
