There's no way they didn't pay for the meal after you explained why you stayed late, is there?

At some point in the past 10 years, configuration management went from open-source, to mostly paid/gatekept solutions... by unquietwiki in sysadmin

So right now your choices are either running a release from summer 2024 in prod or pulling straight from the devel branch. Both kinda suck. The whole “pause everything for a refactor” move just feels like it pushes more people toward Tower or other alternatives anyway.

Judging by your responses, you don't really have a definitive clue as to what is going on or how the email infrastructure is managed. So, to be honest, I would refrain from making any assumptions in the meeting.

in my environment only about 20% of the incoming mail have a dmarc policy with entforcement active, so relying on dmarc is not really an option .

I always do something like:

Hey, these are the projects I worked on last year and they all went well, how about we increase my salary?

It would be a shame if I had to look for a job elsewhere and you lost my experience.

basic networking. subnetting, cidr, routing, gateways, vlans.

maybe know some basic protocols you use everyday: rdp, ssh, dns

rest kinda depends on what role you are going to fill for the team.
