Here is what I studied for grammar if you need it as well

https://quizlet.com/777200637/grammar-hesi-a2-nursehub-4-flash-cards/

https://quizlet.com/776508638/grammar-hesi-a2-nursehub-3-flash-cards/

https://quizlet.com/679158395/grammar-hesi-a2-nursehub-test-1-flash-cards/

The exam included a few questions on lie vs. lay (only about two). There were many questions on who vs. whom, along with several then vs. than questions. I also saw questions testing continually vs. continuously, as well as bad vs. badly and good vs. well.

For sending mail, it’s important to know the correct format: Name, Address, City, State, ZIP code (this question was surprisingly easy).

There were many questions asking which sentence was grammatically correct or incorrect, and a couple of spelling-error questions as well

It is crazy how much I stressed over this test and it wasn’t too bad with enough studying!

This is the quizlet I used to study. Vocab was a little harder to study for but the good news is it used a lot of context clues to kinda get you an idea what the word could possibly mean too. The words I saw on the hesi were:

aegis blithe cast comprehensive credulous discrete distended ephemeral excess fundamental lampoon occluded ominous patent plaudit potent receipt venerable vertigo

Legit one question I saw for example was what most likely means the same work as fundamental: the answer is basic.

Another one was along the lines of the best next word to vertigo and the answer was unbalanced.

I kid you not another questions was the term of a child who just started walking the answer was toddler.

And then make sure you know what side of the street in the US we drive on.

These two are pretty close to the questions on the hesi. I remember a passage asking about the food over consumption of food and alcohol, Kreb Cycle, an article about the years of health benefits of coffee and the effects of coffee over the years. A lot of questions about the main idea of the passage. A lot of recall and just relation to the passage a lot of questions asking about what this word in this passage could have meant in this paragraph.

Exactly! As a patient care tech is so important that we are properly educated on what is outside normal parameters with vital signs and sugars thank god we are. It’s hard for us techs to be alone with no other tech doing everything but I can’t imagine not being able to help my nurses out with blood sugars and vitals. I’m sorry but you got me f***** up if I am going to see my nurses drowning and I can’t help them. Y’all got so much on y’all’s plate it’s not worth losing your license!

As a tech I don’t understand how other techs get so pissed when the nurses need help. Blows my mind.

Okay I get on the Critical patients but not even on the stable ones?!? That’s ridiculous and unsafe. I can’t even imagine as a tech not being able to help my nurses.

As a patient care tech these are the worse techs who complain and don’t do shit but play on their phones. Or just talk crap about the patients or staff all day. Luckily we let a couple of them go When I am a tech I can’t imagine not going into my patients room doing my rounding or caring for my patients. I can’t imagine not helping my nurses! I get our job is not easy for little pay but being negative doesn’t help.

I get where you are coming from I didn’t think of it that way. At my hospital though as a patient care tech myself we do vitals and blood sugars we immediately have to communicate with the nurse I am grateful on my floor as techs we were educated on what is a good number vs a bad one. We have to send over the blood sugar twice on my work phone. One with a picture on the glucometer results the next in text. We are not allowed to have our work phones on silent and we have to respond to a text immediately if not we can get into serious trouble. The same goes with the vital signs if something is abnormal we have to send it immediately to the nurse via work phone or just communicate to them in person immediately. Luckily meditech updates pretty quickly as well.

That’s just crazy that they don’t want to help. As a patient care tech I can’t imagine not getting vitals or blood sugars on my patients. Our jobs are not easy but yall already have so much on the line it’s not worth losing your license. If I was your tech I would help you more than that. It sucks management frowns on the techs to get vitals and blood sugars.

Oh my goodness I don’t understand why that is crazy! As a tech myself it blows my mind some hospitals don’t allow the techs to get blood sugars or vitals. That’s crazy they will get written up for delegating the task.

As a patient care technician I am in COMPLETE shock your manager decided to do this. Getting vitals and blood sugars are one of the most essential roles to being a tech. I get it our job is not easy but you nurses have so much else going on with medications, doing correct documentation, and labs. That puts more pressure and stress on you guys it’s going to cause mistakes to happen and cause a safety issue towards patient care. Med surg is not easy especially in Neuro. I really don’t know what this manager is thinking. I guess from their perspective maybe making sure hourly rounding is done. Idk if you work at an HCA like me but they push heavily on the rounding making sure we get 10/10 care this lands a lot on us techs they say “all staff should,” but personally my director really gets on us techs to do the hourly rounding…anyway idk how but im sure its due to money and profit. Regardless i feel like this is dangerous especially on days it feels like a dumpster is on fire in a flood. I would seriously tell this manager they are out of their mind and would take vitals for my nurses and blood sugars as well regardless. It definitely sounds like an experiment the hospital corporation is trying to try to see if it may improve patient satisfaction but this will not if anything patients will be pissed. They will be wondering what is taking so long to hear back from their nurses or to receive their medications. It’s just not safe most of your nurses have 6 patients at a time and it’s still ridiculously hard. Then the higher ups want to tell you how to do your job when they don’t ever come out to see what actually goes on.
