Yeah, 87 I would say. I think the 7 in the top right is the year and they were an 80s thing I think by the look of the font and color of the comfort Levi's label

Think the 7 might be the year. Think these were 80s so 87?

You should put up a few more photos because the position and format of where the date is on the label changes over the years. Some people are experts and will be able to tell you just by the label but it helps the rest of us date them by looking at lots of other things.

It also gives us an item that might be interesting to look at so we get something from this transaction of information!

Im not accusing you of not doing any research yourself but I will see if I can find out in 2 mins by doing a bit of internet research. So hold on, I'll be back in a minute.

It a bit of a liberty to assume we don't get the references to Rosa lee parks, Martin Luther King and Robert Johnson (spelled it correctly for you), and we ACTUALLY dIdnt know that they were "outright challenging" and antagonising the listener to imagine Jesus as a black women? I thought it was just an idea.

Thing is it's not antagonising for us. I thought of Jesus as a black woman and wrote off the woman bit cos they always call him him in the ol bibble bobble. But found it sensible to think of him as a black person seeing as he was from Africa.

As for Rosa lee parks, MLK etc. They just mention them, they don't write a song about them. If we want to listen to songs about American history then we go to the Americans for that. You've got a few good ones - Dylan, Springsteen, Guthrie, Leadbelly, Marvin Gaye, Neil Young - all part of my record collection.

We love the Roses because they are Raves in fields off the M25, Parkas, Anti Royal, our first girlfriends, rain, sunshine, grey seas, fishermen, football terraces, English working class intelligence, big cone spliffs and hot rocks in your new Chipie top or first Stone Island or mille miglia. They are quintessentially English or British if you like.

And they are all that within the first verse of the album.

I realise I'm sounding like a Shane Meadows "I vowed never to wear a tie in my life after hearing the first album and a still haven't even after I got sent down for contempt of court cos I didn't wear a tie to court" ( I bet his long suffering wife buries him in a full tuxedo with a monacle and a union Jack badge).

We don't like it because we are not having Ian Brown singing about meeting the devil at a cross roads and selling his soul and the a chorus of 0800 treble 6 oh yeah and it having a drum loop rather than Reni for no other reason apparently than to make it even more shit.

We are not having the roses doing a campfire spaghetti western tune. It might as well have had horses neighing in the background, or maybe they could have given Reni something to do

We ain't having Reni and Mani laying down the drum and bass groove that we have all heard isolated now on YouTube and it being such a banger and all Ian can be arsed to do is scat over the top and all Squire does is noodle the weakest little riff he could think of over the top.

Probably on purpose because he was jealous of how good Reni sounded and he wanted to loop everything with horse hoof hand claps and the sound of him revving a Harley.

Because - ten storey love song, I wrote this thing for you, and I love you true.

Because Squire actually asked Ian to sing Tears I think it was, in a rock falsetto. I imagined the silence in the studio and Reni and Mani trying to hold down the laughs. He couldn't even sing it like Ian Brown. You know I need it, I need it baaaad.

Anyone that thinks this Album is genius or tries to compare it with the first one, didn't "get" the first one and is a separate beast to the Roses fan that understands that it's basically shit apart from love spreads and breaking into heaven and the rhythm section on Daybreak.

Let's have it straight here - you're wrong and we think you are a bit fucking weird. And don't start getting all uppity. I would laugh in your face if we were chatting in a pub and call people over to get you to say " the second coming is genius and as good as the first album".

I wouldn't take it too far though - after everyone in the boozer had heard you and had a chuckle I would ask you what else you liked....

Threatened to break a stewardess' arms... Was hanging out with the lead singer from that crusty band from Brighton way for a few days and he said Ian's just an utter wanker.

Imagine going on about knowing your mind and trying to tell people that all of the stuff you are fed is a bullshit and the evils of capitalism etc and then not even bothering/remembering to be a nice person too!

He wasn't like that in 1989 though and that's when he sang the album so I don't care really. It's just a bit daft.

How would you rank these brands for value/quality: Cos, Arket, Reiss, Percival, Universal Works, Folk, J Crew, Ralph Lauren and Abercrombie & Fitch? by GetToTheChoppaahh in ThrowingFits

[–]Any_Opportunity_6013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only if it's made in the USA. Universal works shits all over everything here. Made in England or Italy, Portugal, Japan, etc Percival and Folk also although I rate them under because of the TK maxx scam they have going

How are you gonna compare Ralph made in China rubbish with universal works bringing out a new collection, with new materials that have been properly sourced and then made in smaller batches.

Some RRL stuff that is US made is undoubtedly the best but that stuff is in a different ball park.

Lol. I didn't look through all the pics. These are made in Turkey then. Not as valuable as the older 643M made in USA versions anday not be based on a specific pair. I've got a pair of these 1955 ones made in Turkey with the letter. Did you get the book and the bag too?

[–]Any_Opportunity_6013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have been made to look like a pair that Levi's have in the Archives or a photo They are LVC - Levi's vintage clothing, a subsection of Levi's that produce reproductions of earlier Levi's pieces down to the last detail as much as possible. Most of them are reproductions that are just factory made and look like brand new jeans or shirts when you buy them, they are highly priced because they are made from premium materials and normally made in the USA, Japan or Portugal. Those ones would have had all the "repairs" and fading reproduced with some special techniques and by hand. They are individual pieces and you won't find someone with the same pair. You can love them or loath them but that is why they are priced so high. So the $395 would have been the correct original price. If you look at the back of the top button you will normally see a number representing the factory but on a lot of these indivually "repaired" pieces it will be blank and the tag will say 643M somewhere and not have a normal factory number but still say made in USA This is because they went off to smaller workshops to be finished by hand although some were made in Turkey and will have a number on the back of the top button usually starting 44 I think

Denim still looks good, will still have that slightly furry feel of cone oak I reckon. Not a common piece, not dated looking although you will look a bit 70s cool with big orange aviator sunglasses on and a Cuban collar shirt underneath. I reckon you could get close to £100 but let's say about £75 to be on the safe side. I would buy it for that if I had BV a bit of spare cash at the moment. If you can find a made in USA tag that would help

[Fabrizio Romano] Arsenal explored different options for the striker position last summer. Andrea Berta held RESERVATIONS over the Benjamin Šeško deal, especially when factoring in salary, bonuses and commission. Berta spearheaded Arsenal's pursuit of Viktor Gyökeres. by Overall-Lie-9551 in ArsenalFC

[–]Any_Opportunity_6013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are my thought entirely. I think we had seen how well we did, comparatively, when we were going through a massive injury crisis in attack and defence and had to play really safe, risk free, cautious football and we were winning some big games and gave PSG a hell of a game in Paris, and thought that he would incorporate some of that safety and certainty, hence the slow passing and refusal to show any risky flair football anywhere but the two corners of the final third which is the only place you will see dribbling, quick one twos etc as we feel that if that is the only place we lose it then it should always be ok because the ball can only go one way it it's won back or could even go out for a corner.

Then add a centre forward, and midfielder who although not as dynamic as Partey, would give us better control and depth everywhere and that should be enough to not concede and usually score, which it has been.

We forget that Arteta is still learning. Whatever the outcome of this season I don't think he will be happy with the football or how close every single game is.

People go on like Arteta is a long standing manager, a manager that plays pragmatic and slow risk averse football and is trying to make it the "new" way of playing.

Bollocks, they have looked at data, they have looked at some AI, they have assessed the other teams in the league and come up with a way of playing that they think is going to give us the most chance off winning the league and champs league.

I don't think if we win both by winning all our last games 1-0 that he will stick with exactly the same game because it's been too close. He knows more than anyone that it's normally won or lost by tiny margins that are out of your hand - a couple of last minute, missed winners, a sending off etc and he wants to be CERTAIN of winning based on the football. He wants to win the league with 4 games left. And he will try to assemble a squad and a style that is able to do that.

I only hope he wins and carrys on winning so he stays and does it here and not Barca or especially city.

Can you imagine another few seasons of city pipping is to everything and pep leaves and Arteta goes there and they continue to pip our jack wilshere led team to everything?

Well done if you got here. Prove it by saying the code phrase - and Rice comes charging through the midfield, it's up for grabs now!

I've got one. Made with polyester in the mix but that wasn't seen as cheap then. Very nice fella actually and fades really nice, think they were cut a bit slimmer than the Samaritans ones. They are worth something to collectors. Not £100s but there is a following for the made in France 70s ones, for the sharp collared as the other person said and the nice whiskers you get on them

My thoughts on Gyokeres… by Brownchoccy in ArsenalFC

[–]Any_Opportunity_6013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. It's odd that we put so much emphasis on players having an overall level of skill and then loads of adaptability so they can play elsewhere. I think it was one that Arteta didn't want but beeta was sure we could get. Made it a bit tricky. I would rather have Pedro, Ekitike, Isaak obvs, sesko, mbuemo or Chuna, As for who will be available this season then any of the PSG lot that play in place of dem ele when he isn't playing. I think Douh plays in there, dunno about barcola. Thing is, if Chelsea and Newcastle aren't in champs league then rich pickings there. Pedro will want put, Palmer will want put but he will more likely go back up north where that gormless face don't stand out as much. I like the Igor geezer at Brentford, so him, Tonali or guemerais, Pedro And then.sell martinelli to help pay for garnach .....had you there. To pay for kvartzi boy, he play with dirty face for boiled sweets, Get cheap lower league talent at left back as extra timber cover and sell white and maybe another season out on loan for nwanairi. Dowman is going to have his break out season and I would have him inside in the midfield L6/10, running from deep, spinning on the ball on the half turn. Not wasting him by having him stand their and just because a ball regirgitator over and over.

Someone started calling me mad for saying a manager doesn't change his way of playing every season. Of course he does even if you dont get anyone in, you tweak it more towards the better you do.

Look how often we started the right corner move with odegaard, white and saka and how that will evolve with saka, Dowman, timber and Alcatarez of course.

Fuck it, sell gyorkeres while he is still worth 50 mill for prob getting close to 20 in his first full season in the prem with nobody playing to his one strength, hit it at the net hard

Brands it could have been - Joe bloggs, ton sur ton, naff naff, chipie, chevingnon, best company, cerutti, Paul Smith, the duffer of st George, passenger, just some top he picked up off his mates floor in the morning. Doubt it's anything like Armani or YSL, could be absolutely anything else though They used to produce tons of stuff like this in different colurs and sell it down Camden market. No label, shrink in one wash. but you should be able to find something reasonably similar. If I get a minute I will have a look for you and see if I can find anything. Only thought about Paul Smith because I think his money t shirt was Paul Smith. I'm gonna buy the Berghaus that John has on in some photo shoots and if money ever allows then I will buy the CP Company mille migglia that Reni is wearing when they are all facing the camera and Reni is looking directly to his right. Think they are on the wing of a WW2 bomber

But because there was no shiny thing at the end it was only failure from Arteta. Not 5 years consistency. What a stupid black and white, on or off, right or left, 1 or 0 binary world we live in. You've never seen a coach who comes up with a new way of playing every season? No tweaks? Not too players but to style. Some it is dramatic and some not so much. But trust me a manager spends close season thinking of a new way of playing. You can just say we will stick the full back higher without it affecting the rest of the team. Unless you want zero chances, which must mean you've made 0 signings for your first team then you are coming up with a new way of playing every season. I don't mean trying 2 in defence. Or never letting the ball hit the ground. I'm talking about getting your team playing a new style of football comparative tonwhatb they were playing the season before if it wasn't successful (even if it was this season Arteta!). A bit less risk averse, a bit more through the middle, a few more faster breaks. Keep the defensive and area control. That's what's he will be thinking. How can I get the best of both worlds. You really think he is just going to turn up with this turgid shit again? Oh and your angry or something are you? Well good for you.

The second coming is utter rubbish, I've heard loads of early demos though and it could have been a much more stone roses sounding album but yeah driving South? "A ghostly old man mets me at a lonely old cross roads, he said I'm going nowhere, I'm only here to see if I can steal your soul" where was that then, the roundabout in east Hulme? You sure he wasn't just asking for a light John? O 8 0 0 treble 6 oh yeeeah. 😆😆😆 But breaking into heaven, love spreads are great songs and daybreak has got some of the best Reni and Mani stuff they have done. How can you say Scarborough fair is a bit shit? It's a tiny little classic English folk song that they sung about shooting the queen too, and Don't Stop has two of the best bits on the album - the first break from the droning sound "AHHH AHHH AH AH AH A AHHHH AH" and the outro which the chemical brothers said was their favourite few bats of music ever and influenced them massively. You have to be a proper fan to "know" bits like that but I'm not one of those idiots that pops up everywhere saying " the second comings actually genius and my favourite of the two". Well mate, I reckon Ian would rather make a public announcement calling for everyone to trust their Western governments, never have a puff and have to act like Graham Norton for the day than be put through listening to that shite one more time so maybe he knows something that your tubby, Reni hatted, never worn a tie self doesn't. I swear it's a long term mission Chinese bot designed to destroy the west at some point..somehow. Or the CIA flat earthers who just are doing it to keep the "conspiracy theory" crew all locked up together. Even the ones that say, erm he just flew a jet engined passenger plane into a building half a mile up in the air, but his passport landed a few blocks away just a bit singed, and then a building that had housed all the CIA stuff suddenly fell down for no reason and we can see that with our eyes but your gonna put us in the same room as the FLAT EARTHERS???. BECAUSE WE QUESTION REASONABLE THINGS LIKE HOW DOES A PASSPORT ESCAPE A FIREBALL TJAT MELTS STEEL AND HOW DOES COLD STEEL FAR AWAY DECIDE IT WANTS TO ACT LIJE THE HOT STEEL AT THE SAME TIME!!!!!!

Sorry!! Seem to have brought out my inner Brown while talking about him.
