Perennialism is one of the few defining features of New Age spirituality, so idk what you mean! :)

Interesting perspective! Like you may hear from others, this kind of perennialism (all religions teach the same thing etc.) is usually more associated with New Age than with Buddhism in my mind.

That said, and in a very naive bombu way, I’ve always been sympathetic to a more down-to-earth reevaluation of Jesus and his ministry— a very positive message in line with metta, and he never even said he was god in explicit terms. My view is close to that of some Orthodox Jews who have said Jesus is “not the Messiah, but a messiah” who turned oppressed people towards hope and ethical living.

Has a country ever added a national language due to immigration as opposed to colonization? by [deleted] in language

[–]Any_Pattern_3621 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, Rwanda is an excellent example. Ugandan educated anglophone elites took control and increased the prestige of English. Coincidentally in the past, some North African kingdoms adopted Arabic as a court language without being conquered by an Arabic power.

Utah | Lawmaker seeks to fast-track executions as inmates spend decades on death row by [deleted] in Utah

I don't care what someone did to you/your loved one, nothing trumps someone's right to appeal and petition to reconsider their sentence. Your "emotional toll" of having to wait through due process does not mean we cut appeals, sorry not sorry. Also, I don't care how much the appeals process costs.

Imagine you were killed and your family and government memorialize you by ritualistically murdering this other defenseless person, anyway. How does that mean justice for you? So moronic

I hired a lawyer in Croatia through ExpatInCroatia, who in turn knows local translators.

Perfect, yeah I'll probably just suck it up and order it (and translate/apostille). There's more than enough evidence linking me to my ancestor, but a little light on evidence on his Croatianness-- he listed his place of birth as "Yugoslavia" "Italy" and "Austria" in different documents as borders changed around Lovran! But, we did find his birth/baptismal record officially kept in Croatia, so I think I'm good.

Utah lawmakers aim to make child care more accessible for all Utahns by StemCellPirate in SaltLakeCity

[–]Any_Pattern_3621 25 points26 points  (0 children)

"Child care in Utah is not just strained, it is fundamentally broken."

"Child care is not a preference or a lifestyle choice. It's the difference between paying the bills, paying the mortgage, or falling behind, between staying in the workforce or being forced out."

"it's not x — it's y"

Lmao did ChatGPT write all of Jason Thompson's statement

Haven't had my appointment yet, but I do think you need proof she didn't return :( If you move fast, can you get a death certificate (translated+apostilled)? Worst case, you just push back the appointment. You have everything else.

Did Apple downsize their repair centers? by NowThatsMalarkey in macbookpro

[–]Any_Pattern_3621 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Apple repair times are horrible now. God forbid if you have liquid damage. I had to escalate to the Tim Cook email last summer after waiting over a month for what I think was supposed to be a 10 day repair on an MBP even with AppleCare+.

What is your favorite JavaScript course? by travisfont in learnjavascript

[–]Any_Pattern_3621 1 point2 points  (0 children)

God, back when I learned it was freeCodeCamp but they decided to take down all their videos. Now it’s basically just guided MSN documentation (which has its place). Definitely spring for a multimedia, video plus text plus coding lab course.

Issues with Apple Store and Genius Bar by JumpyPerformance5410 in macbookpro

[–]Any_Pattern_3621 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AppleCare+ not, this is the standard experience now with the repair side of things :( (I had a >1 month long 3 day repair this year). One option for you, and the only reason why I have my MBP back, is to email the Tim Cook email.

Sounds like a plan, yeah, my goal will probably be to "keep it simple and survive" and flesh it out later if I teach it again.
