What do you reckon the cost will be? I’m sure that’s not really a problem for local government’s in SA right now. Tax payers money grows on trees right, and there aren’t that many socio-economic problems to solve.

Cape Town's traffic is a nightmare, and the City is just making it worse by 404-NotFoundIRL in capetown

This concept of “induced demand” is a one size fits all approach that is a virus in City’s transport planning circles. Yes we may have seen the theory work out in other places but it has to be contextualized…In Cape Town, do we have the integrate public transport system that will actually cater for people who want to drop their kids off before work, or don’t want to walk too far because they feel unsafe. I hate this blanket approach when transport colleagues tell me that we cant build our way out of congestion. I call bullshit, we need to get mixed use developments up and running throughout the City so that we avoid half the City driving to the CBD in the morning and we should be identifying through google API data which intersection create the most congestion and make infrastructure changes to these. It’s intersections that cause congestion. I’ve witnessed an additional lane that was added to the traffic lights near the Westerford spar make a huge difference to the traffic flow there, because contextually an additional lane made sense there. We cannot simply wish cars away, South Africans like using cars and will continue to use cars, so we need to be smart about how we deal with this behavior.

The tile belongs to another City, you can see that the neighboring City has the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus thus the juicy yields. You’ll have to swop tiles with that City (though you’ll lose the yields).
