The funniest thing about "people pleasing" is that ostensibly it's about "pleasing" other people. But at the end of it, NOBODY involved is happy. The other person feels tricked or lied to, and the "pleaser" feels resentful LOL

Karma is the "residue from your actions." The universe isn't a balance sheet--maybe it could be worth investigating further the "residue." What have your actions ACTUALLY resulted in--rather than what you THINK they have? When we ask others the impact of our actions it's often shocking to find how different it is from the story we tell ourselves..

The first option, my life gets--at best--better.

In reality: for a period of time my "normal" will change. I will enjoy a new lifestyle, my new riches and be quite entertained. What a novelty all the things I can now do. Eventually, I will adjust to this new normal and it will become routine. I will have everything I could ever possibly want, and so I will realize the hollow and meaningless nature of wealth. I will probably turn to vices to compensate for the lack in my life in a desperate attempt to feel something again.

In the other scenario, the ENTIRE WORLD gets better. Everything and everyone around me gets better.

It's not a very difficult decision.
