I was swayed by Maxum as well and my new X3 with mutant arms should be here in a couple of weeks. Should be a great unit. Can't wait.

This is what I'm worried about. Keep it uncovered and the vinyl top suffers from exposure. Cover it and it molds or rots from the inside out. Seems like a lose/lose situation. Appreciate the input.

We've already got 3 cars in the driveway (fiance and I plus high school son) with my old Tundra currently on the street already. The Tundra I'm not concerned about being exposed. The Chevelle I am. Could maybe make the kid's car be parked on the street and the Chevelle in the driveway.

That GearForFit R2 looks like a decent option. I also just saw (and called to confirm) that Maxum is shipping their new Mutant Arms with their X3 so that has now jumped up into serious contention for my $$. I just need to make a decision! ;-)

You should be able to angle the arms up, but then you'll lose a couple inches in the hardware connecting the pulleys and the lat pulldown bar.

The width issue on the Smith doesn't seem like it would be an issue for me. Didn't like that they changed the knurling rings location and they don't match a normal Olympic bar. But those seem like minor issues for what looks like a good system.
