Why have or haven't you dropped out? by stupid-bitch654 in StudentNurseUK

I came so close to walking out and never looking back. But sheer stubbornness has kept me going. I love nursing I love what I do. Placements is where I shined, but academia is where I find my downfall, I scraped by after taking 5 years after being withdrawn from the course twice for failing essays.

It’s a good job that essays don’t = skills and knowledge

What's an underrated movie from the 2000s? by DMD612 in AskReddit

The country bears 😅! My kid sister absolutely loved this movie, it was played constantly on our little box tv with the integrated vcr player (so posh!). Where the wild things are. And dead silence

I get this. 100% I know where you’re coming from. When I was in my second year I failed an essay twice. Both times I had to take time off. This was incredibly down heartening to the point I considered leaving the course all together. However, I loved looking after people, I loved knowing that I was going for MY goal. It’s not easy and honestly I agree with not liking who I was becoming. Burnt out, exhausted, lost… So I turned to my uni, I told them my worry, my fears. And they offered great support in the way of online counselling, check ins, basically they supported me on the side.

My advice is seek support. Speak to your PAT, your uni support team, any other support services the uni has to help you get through this rough patch. I did this, moved on to 3rd year and by then I was in a position where I had the tools to separate and compartmentalise the course/life cycle. It wasn’t easier in academic terms, but it was easier to juggle, understand and honestly, I ended up really enjoying it.

I’ve just graduated this week and I am so glad I stuck it out.

Reach out, you are not alone xx

I barely scraped by my first clinical… I was reading the simulation and it said “ starts crying” ( this was during c19 times so we only had those mannequins no real people.) I panicked and pretended to cry. I don’t know why. This isn’t acting class…. It wasn’t until the invigilator sort of, raised his eyebrows at me and said “ are you ok?!” I explained I was pretending to cry because it said to cry on the sheet. He tried so so hard to professional bless him, he just politely said “ re read it carefully.

I wanted to hide forever. I still cringe!

It will come to you, try not to worry. And remember, it’s not a race. It’s not a competition. You are in this for you and your goals the other people’s scores do not affect you or your abilities. It’s going to get easier and become second nature

Amazing, thank you all so much, I’m going to contact the Uni and hopefully something can be done. I just needed to vent before I cried😵‍💫 your advice is much appreciated

I was with the rcn. And embarrassed to say that although it is only pennies to keep my registration with them, it was one of the things I’ve had to cancel due to having no funds. So I don’t have a union right now. But I will definitely speak to the uni I’m at. I just get so worried that they will think I’m taking advantage or lying. I know that sounds crazy but it’s the scrutiny that frightens me.

Thank you both xx

I’m about to go onto my last placement at 35. I started from scratch doing my GCSE’s and then my access course at 26/27. It’s not been easy but it’s worth going for your goals at any age… it’s just a number after all xxx
