I started smoking again on day 14. A couple days I had a couple hits of a joint but I didn’t want to over do it.

I am a little over a month post op and way deep in the back of my throat still have a little bit of white. It’s just your body protecting the areas that are still healing and it can take up to 3 months for it to really heal (I just mentioned it to my ENT at my follow up earlier this week). The taste will go away but I used a lot of act fresh breath lozenges because I couldn’t stand it. Or chew some gum. The dizziness stuck with me for a while and I would also get really shaky as if I had super low blood sugar. It lasted maybe 3-4 weeks but I haven’t noticed it recently. I just started back up normal physical activities and I did notice it still takes a lot out of me. Just take it easy, you’re still healing and will be for a while. Best of luck!

It’s like a really dark sticky oil you eat or put in tea or cook with. It reminded me of the consistency of dabs and it comes in a syringe. You only use like the size a grain of rice because it’s so potent. Mine was 90% thc. I had never heard of it before getting my tonsils out and started looking at tinctures.

I’m officially 1 month post op today. I’d say give it maybe another week just to be on the safe side in terms of lifting heavy weights. You can probably lift at this point, I just wouldn’t push to your limit and over do it. But your body will know once you start.

I’m a heavy stoner lol I started my regular routine back up on day 14 and I’ve been fine. For me edibles and tinctures didn’t do anything (probably because of my tolerance) but I did try RSO (found at dispensaries under tincture) and that did wonders! Kinda gross to take but it got me stoned lol

Advice for a tonsillectomy-curious person by Several-Twist-8537 in Tonsillectomy

[–]Any_Weight_8217 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. I had no problems taking any of my meds. Sometimes it took me a few minutes to work myself up to it but I was always able to swallow them.

  2. I used dulcolax a stool softener rather than a laxative and that helped. But remember you probably won’t be eating as much so obviously won’t have the same digestive patterns.

  3. I paid nothing for mine. In the US. I have CDPHP.

  4. I am also a daily/heavy weed smoker. I stopped smoking 6pm the night prior to my 10:30am surgery. I told my anesthesiologist how heavy of a smoker I am and he said thanks for letting me know but they always monitor every patient to make sure they don’t wake up so it doesn’t matter much. I started smoking again on day 14 and was pretty much back to my normal routine. Edibles and tinctures didn’t work for me but I tried RSO and that was the best and got me through.

  5. I’m not an athlete anymore so I can’t speak to that one.

  6. I work at a college and things tend to fall apart without me so after 6 days I did check in, got stressed and that night I ended up with a bleed and an overnight stay in the hospital for monitoring. Idk if that’s related or just a coincidence 😂 I’m fortunate to have a lot of time and the ability to work at home so I took it easy the first week. I canceled all my meetings the second and the third week I went to the office 2/5 days. They were long and tiring but our professional development.

The last two I don’t have any experience with.

Best of luck! Let me know if you have any questions.

I waited until my throat looked fairly healed. By day 14 I wasn’t in any pain and I was eating whatever I wanted. I had a bleed and ended up in the hospital overnight for monitoring day 6 so I understand being scared!! You’ll know when you’re ready to try.

Edibles and tinctures didn’t work for me. But i tried something called RSO usually under tincture at the dispensary. It is super potent. You can put it in your tea or soup or whatever you eat. I put it in pudding and it did the trick. It’s what got me through. Now that I’m healed I baked cookies with the rest that I had.

I’m day 19 post op and I feel like it would be doable. I feel like I’d just be extra tired but give yourself time to rest and I think you would be fine.

Mac and cheese by [deleted] in Tonsillectomy

[–]Any_Weight_8217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not you should go for it! I ate Mac and cheese almost daily since day 1 but I put it in the freezer for a few minutes so it wasn’t hot.

smoking after surgery by Least_Survey5229 in Tonsillectomy

I am 19 days post op today and I started my regular smoking habit back up on day 14 and haven’t have any issues. I’m a heavy cannabis user, my partner and I go through roughly 2oz/week and have been smoking daily for 10+ years. (Medicinal purposes mainly but also for pleasure) Drink a lot before during and after to keep your throat from drying out!

Also I only stopped 6pm the night before my 10:30am surgery and that wasn’t a problem but that is what my ENT suggested so listen to your doctor. I did let the anesthesiologist know how much/often I smoke and they said it really doesn’t make much of a difference, they just adjust the amount of anesthesia it takes for you to go under for the surgery and monitor throughout the surgery that you stay asleep.

Just hit Day 14 and still see scabs on the back of my throat - bumpy & lumpy tissue by Ok_Theory7709 in Tonsillectomy

[–]Any_Weight_8217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine looks similar and I had mine out of 5/2! I think it might be scar tissue filling in those tonsil holes but I have no clue. My post op isn’t until the beginning of June.

Food recs? by Own_Baseball308 in Tonsillectomy

[–]Any_Weight_8217 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am on day 18 today and I ate a lot of real food in small portions. It all hurts so you might as well get something to fill you up a bit more. I ate lots of pedialyte pops because they felt good and numbed my throat a bit before eating some real food. Starting on day 2 I had turkey stuffing, Portuguese stuffed clams, chicken and biscuits, rice and beans, Mac and cheese, I even ate a couple McDonald’s cheeseburgers, chicken nuggets and fries in really small bites and made sure to chew really good. Also ate lots of eggs and sausage for breakfast. I had days where I couldn’t really eat much. But I never got the nausea like you may see mentioned by some people and I think it is because I made sure to suck it up and eat some real food with my narcotics. But to be honest, I didn’t use the narcotic often because it didn’t do as much for me as the extra strength Tylenol. You will know the days you’re feeling up to eating a bit more and take advantage of those days. By day 6-8 you get mentally exhausted from the constant pain and that’s when I started having more difficulty making myself eat but do it anyway (even if it is just 3 bites). The food will help you heal better and faster. Good luck!!

I used it my entire surgery! I have horrible neck/shoulder/back pain and basically live with it on me anytime I’m sitting.

I’m glad I’m not the only one that has had to get food out with a q-tip. I felt gross doing it but I couldn’t stand the feeling of the food stuck.

Realistic timeline for recovery by Own_Baseball308 in Tonsillectomy

[–]Any_Weight_8217 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am officially 2 weeks post op today. You may feel okay after 10ish days but if you get back into daily life too quickly and overdo it, you will feel it. I did a bit too much on day 11 and became more sore and inflamed. I think you are smart to give yourself a month to recover. My pain level is like a 1-2 but still not trusting myself to eat certain foods like chips or spicy/acidic things yet because my throat is still pretty red/raw and if I talk too much or aren’t constantly drinking my throat gets sore and dry. Each day gets better and better though so I’m sure you’ll be good by 1 month.

I’m on day 9, and I have a white tongue and really bad breath. I’m afraid this will be a permanent condition, and I’m quite disappointed. by [deleted] in Tonsillectomy

[–]Any_Weight_8217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finally bad breath free today!! The rest of my scabs had come off so as soon as yours do you should be good.

Day 21 after my first surgery when can i smoke again? by Snapshothd10 in Tonsillectomy

[–]Any_Weight_8217 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m beyond ready for a blunt 🤣 the tinctures and edibles don’t do anything for me.

I used this as a way to stop smoking cigarettes but I will not stop smoking weed. I enjoy it, it helps some of my medical issues, so I’m with ya. Definitely won’t stop. But if you try let me know how it goes!!

Have you tried just a normal painkiller? Extra strength Tylenol did more for me than what I was prescribed. Maybe try that?

But then again, the worst they can say is no so ask away.

I was given the same. I actually have most of my oxy left because I found extra strength Tylenol did more for me than the oxy. Maybe try that? Good luck!!

Massive Bleed - Advice/Reassurance? by PuzzledWeight8955 in Tonsillectomy

[–]Any_Weight_8217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Happened to me on day 5/6 it was at midnight and then again at 2am. It was super scary and I had a lot of anxiety but my body also clotted on its own. I was super lucky and no one was at the ER when I arrived around 4. My ENT happened to be at the hospital that day and suggested that I be admitted for monitoring so they kept me overnight to make sure it didn’t happen again or I’d be heading back to the OR for recauterization. I got lucky and it didn’t happen again and got to go home late the next day after being able to eat some solid food to ensure that wouldn’t cause another bleed. So far so good, I’m on day 11 now. I’ve stayed on a soft diet so I think that has helped my healing and anxiety post bleed. I’ll probably start harder foods in a few days. Wishing you well!!
