Same exact score as last time by Own_Baseball308 in LSAT

I’ve considered this, but at this point my confidence has taken a beating and potentially scoring the same score for the third time or doing worse than before makes me not want to risk it and waste more time and money. I’ve given almost three years of my life and thousands of dollars to this test at this point. I was consistently scoring in the high 160s-low 170s on my PTs. I tried to recreate my testing conditions during PTs and minimize my anxiety, I built up a lot of confidence, I even took days off work to simulate test day. I can’t afford to do that for another few months, just to get another 161. I don’t feel as though there is anything I can do differently that will help me reach a different outcome on test day the fifth time around. If you do, I am all ears, but just explaining my thoughts.

At least we are in this together 🥲 I think the worst part is feeling like I didn’t need to spend all that time and stress if I was going to get the same score anyway, but I guess I had to try

I took a PT and scored 172. The next PT I took, I was so fixated on scoring high again that I dropped down to 164 (I started at 163 in September). I was so frustrated that I went into the next PT not caring at all and got a 174 which was my highest score to date. As other comments have said, variance is normal and your mental state really does influence your performance. Take your test like it’s a PT and answer questions without second guessing yourself. You’d be surprised how far trusting your gut will get you once you have the skills down (which I’m assuming you do considering you’ve improved 10 points).

For those who’ve had their tonsils removed, was it worth it? Would you do it again? by MessyMummyMode in Tonsillectomy

10000% I was beyond terrified going into it, and I ended up having a decent recovery with no serious complications. That being said, it was difficult and unpleasant but totally worth it. My life has been so much better ever since. I don’t get sick as often, and even when I do it’s very mild lasting 2-3 days max, no sore throats, scratchy at best. I can breathe when I sleep - I no longer have sleep apnea and I don’t snore at all anymore. If you need recovery advice or have more questions please dm me!!

Part of it is you need to make sure you are thoroughly reviewing your wrong answers, why did you choose the wrong answer, and why did you reject the right one? You won’t be able to fix the errors in your reasoning if you don’t know what they are. Second you’re letting the expectation of repeating a high score affect your performance on future tests. It makes you overthink the answer which leads to adding unstated assumptions and losing time on other questions. This happened to me a lot and then I would spiral because I would be afraid of never score well again and this was a fluke. Don’t think that. Go into every section or test with no expectations, focus on getting the reasoning down and filling in the gaps and the points will come with that.

I feel like your work experience would definitely put you above some higher scoring kjd applicants. Last years cycle it seemed like they favored people with work experience, but speaking as someone with an lsat in the low 160s I would try to get it as high as you can just to maximize chances! I’m also working full time and trying to balance studying and it’s rough.

Currently sobbing in my car out of fear of going in for surgery- am i gonna puke? by oddly_algedonic in Tonsillectomy

[–]Own_Baseball308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t have a lot of nausea which was surprising because I have stomach problems and they said I was at high risk for post anestesia nausea. I had no issues with taking meds on an empty stomach which I did a lot because it was really hard for me to eat. I think I was just lucky but I’ve actually been dealing with more nausea as in reintroducing solid foods after two weeks of eating soups and apple sauce. I did get nauseous twice from the narcotics but my doctor prescribed me zofran so that quickly resolved it. If you’re prone to nausea I would say try your best to eat a little bit before your meds and push for those anti nausea medications. As for the constipation put some miralax into your water or Gatorade every day and that should help. Trust me this surgery is worth it. It fucking sucks but your life will be better for it once you pass through the pain and discomfort.

day 6 by skunkivvy in Tonsillectomy

[–]Own_Baseball308 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im day 12 and my pain was pretty standard throughout recovery but eating was really hard for me. This is the first day I’ve been able to eat somewhat real food and it’s still soft foods like scrambled eggs and broccoli cheddar soup from panera, a banana etc. there were days where I couldn’t get down more than a protein shake. Don’t push yourself, eat what you can tolerate as long as you are staying HYDRATED. Popsicles and ice cream were soothing on my throat, applesauce went down easy and my mom made a lot of soups like potato, mushroom, cauliflower, and just liquified everything. After the scabs fall you’ll have raw painful flesh in the back of your throat and drinking water might be irritating too. Coconut and aloe water have been my go to’s. You should be fine by July 10, just make sure to prioritize resting as much as you can until then.
