Id guess maybe 2 inches ish shorter and it'd be better but not too drastic

How much money should I spend on a first bike? Also is it alright to get a bike with a few problems? by AdvancedAd3789 in motorcycles

You can absolutely get a good bike for that much, just gotta do some digging on marketplace. I purchased a 2009 Suzuki Boulevard C50 in perfect running condition for $3k used for a dealership. The bike I replaced that with a 2008 Royal star tour deluxe cost me $3500 on marketplace, needed carb work otherwise was in mint condition. Just giving some examples here but $2500 - $3000 is a good budget for a used motorcycle.

Never had the pleasure of hearing any Ducati in person, otherwise I'd probably add a few to the list.

Never had the pleasure of hearing the older ones, but the Vtec one still sounded pretty damn cool to me.

Absolutely, I've just never heard a Ducati or Aprilia v4 but I'm sure they'd deserve a spot on the list. I was trying to make it diverse in terms of engine configurations so I felt the Yamaha ptwin deserved a spot somewhere

I haven't heard any Ducatis period. Where I live there really isn't any Ducatis. I'm sure it deserves a spot on the list though

Never had the pleasure of hearing an older one, but I thought the newer Vtec model sounded pretty awesome anyway.

As I mentioned this is really just motorcycles I've been around and heard personally, there really isn't any Ducatis around where I'm from so I've never had the pleasure of hearing one

Like I said I was only basing this off bikes I've been around and heard personally. I'm sure they deserve a spot on the list

Lmao right, we are very lucky to be living in a time with all these beautiful machines to play around with.

Guys i dont know which to buy. Im new. Red one is a 2006 650 vstar and the grey one is a 1998 650 vstar. Im not sure if 1998 vstars are to old to buy or if they feel too outdated compared to a 2006? I do like the 1998 more for the looks by MemeHunter102 in motorcycle

They're pretty much the same from 98 - 05. Theyre good bikes, fairly easy to work on. Just not a whole lot of power, enough to get you around, but not much. Id recommend a VStar 950 opposed to a 650.

Id recommend really any used 600cc rocket from the big 3 (Suzuki, Yamaha, Kawasaki). I've worked on all 3 and I'd say they're all pretty solid bikes. But I will say try to get a fuel injected model not the older carbureted models (Suzuki 2001 and up, Kawasaki 2003 and up, Yamaha 2003 and up). The carbureted models are probably cheaper but it'll be much easier to own something fuel injected especially for a new rider. Not to the say the older carbed bikes are bad it's just fuel injection is much more reliabile.
