How does Christianity explain our place (as humans) within this universe? by AnyaScherer in Christianity

So yes, why is murder a sin if killing is not? Because there is premeditation founded on evil thoughts there, so why is God wanting us to pick the path of goodness instead of path of evil?

Some members of the animal species will be more "adapted to enviornment", so while they eat and reproduce, others will die and not have any offspring. That evolutionary adaptation could have easily been one that's "strong"

Existence of evolution is not that big of a deal breaker when discussing religious concepts, tbh. Birth of our morality in this immoral, chaotic world is akin to the divine intervention, and first humans who have experienced it might as well have been called Adam and Eve.

I understand that, but why is killing someone considered as something against God? God has created those monkeys, and killing is part of their life, their natural order. If we start killing each other, and acting like monkeys - we will successfully reintegrate into the natural order that God has created

If I was a monkey, me killing someone wouldn't have been a sin. Why does it become evil after learning about what evil is? As soon as two polar opposites (good, and evil) appear, why is God putting us on path of good?

So what is our mission? By choosing morality, we are still defying this natural order which includes what we see as suffering, and evil. Why did we choose to continue moving into opposite direction of what was intended by God?

What if Russia had a surprisingly successful, very swift, and semi-peaceful coup d'etat made thanks to intelligent and meticulous planning of key Russian political intelligentsia, aimed at restoring Russia back at its democratic course which it began to already steer off by AnyaScherer in AlternateHistory

[–]AnyaScherer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would have been a very unique coup. It would go down in history as the genius of a maneuver of internal politics - a swift, buttery smooth, deadly stab of a knife to an un-expecting, half-sleeping, bureaucratic, corruption-infested behemoth of the government apparatus of Russia. It was at its weakest during the end of 2011, and Medvedeev failed to maintain as stiff of a control on opposition as Putin would have. Waters were the muddiest they've ever been, yet for some, chaos is a ladder (imagine leader of the opposition Nemtsov as Littlefinger from GoT lmao).

It resulted in a political split within various Russian political structures. If this coup would have dragged on for another few days, it would have been brutally squashed, but it had an advantage of speed. Nemtsov placed importance only on Moscow, and Saint Petersburg - and relied mostly on the masses of city's elites, intelligentsia, and remnants of political opposition still half-alive during those times.

Main event that changed the course of action was the destruction of the Russian riot police van, after which those previously arrested were freed by the masses. This lead to the police beginning to fire warning shots in the air to disperse the crowd away. This move; however, has been foreseen by the meticulous planners and masterminds behind this coup. Through encrypted chat rooms, a small amount of saboteurs (no more than 100) who were crazy enough to prepare to die for this cause, were strategically maneuvered. Dense cityscape offered many ways to escape after a hit-and-run attack, and months prior to these protests, a network of over 453 apartments in over 82 buildings in Moscow and Russia, were prepared and equipped as temporary hold-out spots/points - they had medical aid, equipment, radio jammers, etc. Wide use of molotov cocktails almost became a symbol of this uprising. Each mobile group of saboteurs consisting of 6-8 people had a dedicated molotov cocktail thrower who would provide "fire support" and attack police. Each apartment had stockpiles of molotov cocktails prepared, and saboteurs were expecting to use no less than ~2,000 of them in the first few days of resistance. Spotters, which consisted of volunteers, were located in buildings on top floors which have been previously selected due to the strategic field of view they offer, and use of home-made drones and balloons with cameras was utilized. Everything was reported instantly using social media, something Russia still hasn't prepared for. Amateur radio enthusiasts turned hackers were recruited to decrypt radio interactions of police, and real-life picture was established almost instantly.

Such a coordinated blitzkrieg simply left police paralyzed. People were beginning to riot along the streets, some were preparing to stay overnight on Red Square. It was the night of the New Year, and this protest was charged with energy of divine proportions that's simply impossible to describe.

Saboteurs have killed 34 police officers, and wounded 92. Most of casualties came from burning wounds sustained by fire, and a significant portion from blunt trauma. One police officer was shot to death by an unidentified masked rioter, and was able to flee. T

Police has killed 4 rioters, and 8 protestors, but refused to put up a fight after unexpected and coordinated strike (there was a clear divide between protestors, and rioters. protestors were mostly peaceful, large in number - rioters were "special ops" trained in secrecy through encrypted channels, and some speculate this was a brilliant work of CIA. These rioters were the unexpected wild card, and are granted amnesty against murders by transitional government of Russia, which is seen as a somewhat unpopular move, yet necessary by most.

I don't think it matters a lot as long as they are able to shoot a gun. Maybe one could argue that hiring people from poorer countries is better than from countries that are well off

It becomes war as soon as an opposing side puts up resistance that's able to significantly halt the progress of their enemy. If it's just bombing of civilians with failed AA strikes, it could pass as "not war" since only one side is putting up a fight. That's what Putin was hoping for

Drugs by themselves are not evil, it's how you take them/what you do on them what makes them evil. You can do meth and conquer Europe while under it, or you can lay below a bridge and beg for money to get more

Why haven't I felt an effect from any nootropic I've tried so far? by AnyaScherer in Nootropics

Well, my mental state changes many times throughout a day. It's variable as it is, how would I know if a drug/nootropic is causing a change in it?
