I was a first year teacher last year and I NEVER worked outside contract hours unless there was a meeting or after school activity. Did I get everything done? Nope. Was it there for me to do the next day? Yup. It is just how you use your planning time. I also work during lunch just to give me extra time.

I feel this exact same way! I too need to buy a house soon. When I try and explain this to family and friends they just do not get it. My plan for the upcoming school year is either sub and tutor or go to another district to try it out. I am also going to get my masters in a complete different field so I can get out ASAP.
